*WIP* Chex Quest: World Trek

Post by Tapika »

Hey guys, remember me? The guy who tried to make Chex Quest: Project Z a while back? Well, that flopped. This is my new project!

Image

This is made off the groundwork of the original project and significantly aided by the subsequent release of Chex Quest 3!

Image

It sends you all over the World to different places to stop the invasion of the Flemoids! There are 3 levels, one of them incomplete.

Image

Here is the plot.

Fred Chexter has been relaxing for two years. He has been temporarily dismissed from his job for a year now because of his well-earned rest. He is staying at the Sunny Raisin Hotel on Ralston. However, his Cell-Pod starts bleeping. He presses the button...
A set of co-ordinates pop up on the screen. He recognises them as the IFOC Ralston Laborotory! The Chex Warrior swears under his breath and puts the Cell-Pod down. He is walking to the main building to pay before leaving when Flemoids start invading the sunny resort! He runs back to his hotel room to get some Zorchers...

Here is the download! Please suggest ideas for the next release.

Thanks!

Haven't downloaded it yet, but (almost) anything Chex Quest-related is, by default, awesome. Good job. ;)

Thanks, you guys! ^^;

Yeah. I tried to make it the same difficulty CQ2 was, going up towards CQ3 in the later levels.

Did you know: I only made four textures in any of those images, one of them was the title screen text and two of them were skys? =P

I thought that the skies looked new - but in keeping with the Chex art.

They were all edits of CQ1 skys.

Also, E1M2's sky was in CQ3's variant of CQ2.

Well, it's not the first. =P

Thanks. The resort has only just been invaded, and level two has enough slime scum in other places...

I'm a little curious as to your decision to make this an IWAD. Running it as a PWAD for CQ3 works just fine and will save everyone a shit-ton of bandwidth. For only a few sprites and textures you could get this under a couple megs and let others pick up CQ3.

What I did play was fun but very, very short. I hope to see a little more. :)

Thanks! This WAD will probably only be as long as 5 levels like CQ1, 2 and 3 were. But thanks for the good comments!

I decided to make this an iWAD because it seems neater then having pWAD spaghetii messing it up.

Also, I renamed every single Flemoid graphic for organisation purposes. :P

Tapika, I think that snow map in the third shot could benefit with snow things from Tormentor's site.

Are you kidding me? When I checked the WAD only one sprite was fitting AND in the correct style, and it was a tree and it still needed work. Heck, that WAD looks like a Jokewad to me when I just look at the sprites.
