I'm not sure that I should admit this in public but I have an album of his and have seen him live too. I blame an ex girlfriend's sister. :P

Best easter egg since Scuba Steve's admission of whiney bitchiness in Action Doom, don't you think?

Well when I got too busy to continue posting and modding here like 2-3 years ago, people were posting like mad.

I came back now, and even more people are posting than before. Just look at the forum activity if you don't believe me.

I doubt the Doom community is dying, so all you nay-sayers, take your depression elsewhere

Nah....

It's most likely that the Doom Modding Community (especially people like Doomero) is going to actually port the weapons/monsters/etc (converting them into sprites) from Doom 4 into Doom/Doom 2 as a mod like their doing with Doom 3 now...

Also this whole "Doom Community is dying" claim is just bullshit laughing stock since Doom has one the most active modding communities than most of the other games out there...(BTW if you want to see a truly struggling/inactive/almost dying community then take a look at the Blood Community for example....Transfusion is hardly being worked on anymore, Blood 2 Resurrection is slowly getting gnawed to death by a thieving/lying asshole named Corbin who is basically making a mockery of the game (called "Hypertension") by stealing copyrighted material and other material/ideas from other people's mods and aswell porting anime girls/prostitutes/dogs/etc along the way and selling it for profit on the sega dreamcast for a younger teeny bopper audience (even though Kurt is still working on Resurrection in secret since he no longer provides any updates because of Corbin but I fear due to recent events especially from the tone of his latest update it looks like his motivation for the project has been slowly fading away but I hope he has any willpower left to continue the project however), while the only projects that are being worked on now (that is getting updates) is Cradle to Grave (and blog link) which a EDuke mod that allows you to play Blood on it or something and a couple of usermaps in the making which is pretty much it)

There is always going to be a newer generation that will replace us is going to take interest in Doom and other classic gaming and keep it going you know....and don't sound like a existentialist either...

or even better. take a look at the Descent community. specially regarding the D2X-XL port, although i liked the graphical and gameplay enhancements, the port is VERY buggy. Everytime they release a new version, a new bug is introduced. and most of the bugs are either the "gameplay-hindering ones" or some graphical flaws. not to mention the program crashes/CTDs as well. it happens when you least expect it. you press the rear view button, you try to exit the level, and what do you get? CTD!

When it comes to Descent, most of the classic stuff is dead (but still around), but Descent 3 is still going fine. The D2X-XL community, however is barely repersentive of the actual classic community, thanks to their leader. Most of the oldschool players sit on Kali and play using DXX-Rebirth, with several people gaining a interest in classic descent out of kali.

Agreed on that point. D2X-XL is honestly a sham -- it's like Doomsday done wrong with too many features, even more slowdowns, and almost no worthwhile content for it (and from what I've seen, the community is a little... odd. I'm no expert though). DXX-Rebirth is a far better port, as it doesn't try to overdo everything to Hades and back.

Still, though, the point remains that the Descent series, even including 3, still has a far smaller fanbase than Doom does today. I think we're holding on pretty well, don't you all?

I'm excited about Doom 4 coming out because it'd be really cool to do a 2-D version of one of their monsters. Kinda like what I did with the Trites from Doom 3. I think Doom 4 won't slow down the modding of Doom 2 it will probably make it stronger.

Stop modding for classic Doom when D4 comes out? You kidding? I only just started a month ago!
