Networking forum?

Post by randi »

The old ZDoom boards had a networking forum, but it didn't generate much traffic. Should I add one here or just let the networking topics fall into the general forum?

The old networking forum did only generate a fraction of the traffic that the other forums did, but it was a nice consolidated section for net problems.

The low traffic meant it was an easy forum to pick through and find specific solutions to specific networking questions/ problems.

I vote yes!

Well, I voted No, but I'm really undecided. I mean, it's helpful, but it would be a waste to make a forum that nobody will post in...

Before pre 2.0.0.48 is released, network forum is no use, because of getting always out of sync network game v_V I've tried playing it on 3 machines and as result it crashed after first level v_V However, I vote YES...

i liked having it around. only used it a few times but that's just because i never played zdoom networked before. most of the threads that were there just talked about how we wanted TCP/IP or asked what to do about desyncs :) it might generate more traffic when 48.cab is released. in short i think it's a small but integral forum.

I agree. 48 is going to change the fact that most people don't talk about ZDoom networking. Once it's out, it'll be more of an issue. Add it. =)

I never get involved in networking forums, but I voted "Maybe," because people may find one type of forum better than the others.

Go for it.

Just make one, and if no one posts, then get rid of it.

Heh
Aren't you the one that wrote something about trolls and using one word posts like, "Heh"?

(Of course, this message doesn't make sense now...)

To get back on topic... I voted maybe. I have no need for networking, because I don't play networked games, but other people do deathmatch, so, of course, there is probably a need for one...

I like the person who posted the noble, "Put it up, if no one come, drop it." (Or something like that.)

As they say in the forums at some other website:

Posts are best left as quality, NOT quantity.

There's no reason at all to have a high post count. There don't appear to be any ranks on these forums, and having lots of posts does not signify in any way that you are better than anybody else. Think about what you're posting. Don't post one-word replies. Just overall, be a GOOD PERSON.
