Re: Important announcement regarding my involvement with ZDoom
I was just musing to myself instead of going to bed like I should be doing, and this quote popped gazelle-like into my head. Possibly a bit crass, but it's kind of appropriate:

Of course, how much attention anyone can pay to that guy, I don't know. I mean, the man is English and has spent nearly all his life in England - yet he speaks with an American accent. What's up with that?Stephen Hawking wrote:For millions of years, mankind lived just like the animals. Then something happened which unleashed the power of our imagination. We learned to talk and we learned to listen. Speech has allowed the communication of ideas, enabling human beings to work together to build the impossible. Mankind's greatest achievements have come about by talking, and its greatest failures by not talking. It doesn't have to be like this. Our greatest hopes could become reality in the future. With the technology at our disposal, the possibilities are unbounded. All we need to do is make sure we keep talking.

Do you think he ever types in filthy things when he's alone just for fun?Enjay wrote:Of course, how much attention anyone can pay to that guy, I don't know. I mean, the man is English and has spent nearly all his life in England - yet he speaks with an American accent. What's up with that?

Funny, I always thought his accent was more of a mechanical one.Enjay wrote:I mean, [Stephen Hawking] is English and has spent nearly all his life in England - yet he speaks with an American accent. What's up with that?

That was the joke.

Here's another good place to look:DoomRater wrote:One question: where can I find a line by line detail of additions added to the GZDoom SVN? I've been following The ZDoom SVN for a while and would like to ensure I'm staying up to date on the latest tricks in case I spot something someone needs or should be standardized that is currently hackish.

Though of course this will just tell you which pages use the tag. To find out what's different you'll have to open each article.

I guess it's official then, Graf's name is no longer purple.
Re: Important announcement regarding my involvement with ZDoom
He's still listed in the developer's group though...zwouth wrote:I guess it's official then, Graf's name is no longer purple.

So first we lose a really good developer... then we lose a really good moderator...
These are sad times for the ZDoom community.

That just means he doesn't have moderator privileges anymore. He can still see and participate in developer only secret threads (if any exist).zwouth wrote:I guess it's official then, Graf's name is no longer purple.
Its not like their dead, and its not like we'll ever see then post again, they've just voluntarily forfeited their positions of responsibility to concentrate on what matters. I say rejoice because new things are on the way.Slasher wrote:These are sad times for the ZDoom community.

I'm inclined to mostly agree with Skadoomer here. This is all something I would not file under "Crisis of Epic Proportions". Important change of the status quo? Sure. Not the ideal solution? Sure, there's a good argument for that. Graf vengefully remote activating a hidden routine implanted in the ZDoom source to wipe all copies of the executable and source code off the face of the Earth? Nah.skadoomer wrote:Its not like their dead, and its not like we'll ever see then post again, they've just voluntarily forfeited their positions of responsibility to concentrate on what matters. Graf has always had the power and the right to step away. Randy, likewise, has made no transgressions because he has always had a right to maintain his own project. At this stage development will still to continue. Differently, but it will go on. Let's see what changes.

ZDoom is dead. Long live ZDoom.skadoomer wrote:Its not like their dead, and its not like we'll ever see then post again, they've just voluntarily forfeited their positions of responsibility to concentrate on what matters. I say rejoice because new things are on the way.

Oh I'm quite curious about the potential progress. I'm sure that will be very rewarding. I just feel it's unfortunate that the split itself has to take place. Certain features will be implemented in one port but not the other... That kind of thing.
Actually, my earlier post in this thread sums up my concerns about this issue.
My other point was that we are "losing" two very important forum members in such a short amount of time.
