Ran through this last night, so I just wanted to say well done. It's a vast improvement on your previous efforts. There's a few very minor niggles but you've done very well to make a simple, compact map that has some decent lighting and height variation, makes spatial sense (the steps up to the rocky Trooper platforms were a great touch), plus a few nice little details. It reminds me of a Plutonia map in a weird way. Good job.

The only gripes I have are a couple of texture misalignments in the start area ceiling and border, and the lack of height variation between the sky ceiling in the nuke pit area and the cave you exit from (up the stairs, before you fight the Demons and Spectres). You should lower the ceiling of the cave so that there's a bit of rocky upper texture between the mouth of the cave and the sky.

Now, do it all again, only better! For your next level, I'd suggest giving the player a choice of routes to the end, and possibly a locked door or two. A nice way to make your level non-linear is to make each main area of your map have at least three ways to leave from. Two reasonably-sized non-linear areas with a locked door separating them, broken up with some nice, focused little fights, would work a treat (E1M2 is a great example, and only has one locked door). Keep it up! 8-)

Well you've done techbases and mountains already, so how about a dungeon/prison/torture chamber of some sort? The default DoomII textureset contains loads of stone walls and grates, and you've also got gargoyle faces and those poor bods hanging from chains with their guts ripped out. It'd lend itself well to a more complex layout (but please, no mazes!), and being a prison it would obviously be secured by some locked doors. It would also be a good way for you to experiment with more dramatic lighting - it would be a dark atmosphere (but not TOO dark!), but with bright shafts of light from fires or torches... go nuts, get medieval on our asses!

Good luck!

EDIT: a good way to get ideas for a themed map is to think of how such a place would function in real life. For a prison or torture chamber, there would obviously be an entrance where the victims are dragged in and 'processed' (stripped, branded, whatever!) before being put in cells until they're ready for torture. Then they get taken to the torture area itself, which would probably be a large network of rooms with various wicked instruments in them (think Hostel as a reference point). Of course you'd also need disposal areas for the dead, as well as living quarters for guards/demons, and a main core where the overseer or boss of the level could reside. The possibilities are huge, and it needn't be a huge map to have plenty of variety and cool touches.

I was a bit disappointed. The first corridors with the techlights and all were too narrow making it pretty difficult to get through in a hurry. Only a couple of different textures were used thus the level looked a bit boring. Making player fight against a bunch of zombies and a couple of demons with only a pistol didn't seem like a good idea to me, but heck, even I survived it in the end so I won't complain about it.

I say it's a fairly decent map.

DaNoob's really made some improvements. I agree with Skippy that the starting room sort of lacked height-variation, but if anything only on the floor. If you look at the ceiling I saw a neat little ceiling jam set up there. Liked the boss fight (and I fought it the hard way, I didn't even notice the cover or the chaingun) -- only major complaint about the map was its short length. :P
I enjoyed the map, it was indeed fun. I do honestly look forward to your next map. :)

Could use maybe a bit more detail, but other than that, I find it good, especially at the end. That barrier/cover was a nice touch.

to be honest, its not as good as the first level (yet)
also: you made some serious technical errors, such as not closing sectors. this is a particularly bad practice, and you may need to remake the map entirely because of them
if you use doom builder, then it will show you what sectors are not closed in it's error detection.
