E m t (NEW QUESTION) Brightmaps

Post by Tapika »

Use the bat, Go to E1M6, use 'kill monsters', and get to the spaceships.
It will say 'Empty Message', then display PICTEND1.

Go into a WAD editior and have a look at the MAPINFO- It SHOULD say what it says there (Too lazy to remember or look it up to put here) but when I play E1M8 (NOT REPLACED) it displays the message I want to have- after E1M6! Could someone help me?

Also, is PlayerDamagescreenColor or whatever it is avaible for use in GZDooM?

3: How do you make brightmaps? Do you have to edit Brightmaps.pk3?

Thanks ^^

Not having looked at your WAD, my best guess is your cluster is not ending on E1M6, instead on E1M8 as default.

But I'm downloading it now to look at it.

EDIT: Done. You did not define the maps as actually being in the cluster, instead you attempted to redefine cluster 1 multiple times (using clusterdef), this was fixed by changing those to "cluster", now all maps are part of that cluster and the end message appears. Attached is the MAPINFO lump with the problem fixed.
Spoiler: MAPINFO lump

No you're not an idiot. People make mistakes like that all the time. Sometimes it just takes another person to catch them because you're so used to looking at it the way it is.

My guess is that it should be, but it doesn't seem to be working. Possibly a GZdoom bug.

I tried this:

player.damagescreencolor Blue

In Zdoom and GZdoom. It worked in Zdoom but not GZdoom.

I'll report it over at DRD.

New question.
How do you make brightmaps? Do you have to edit Brightmaps.pk3?
I have a brightmap image (I know HOW to make them, but how exactly should you put them in the WAD?)

I've never had any experience with this, maybe someone else might know.

Look at the files in brightmaps.pk3 called *defs.bm (eg doomdefs.bm) These are just text files and should show you how to set up your own brightmaps. You should not need to alter the brightmaps.pk3 that comes with GZdoom. In fact, doing so is bad practice.

I know about that, EDIT: I tried doing what you said, but it doesn't work. Do you want the WAD?

I have to admit, I found them a little tricky to get working too for some reason (I never worked out why), then they just started working. However, enabling them caused problems elsewhere so I disabled them again and haven't really looked at them since. A shame because I like the effect.

Forgive the obvious question - Have you enabled brightmaps in the opengl options menu?

If you like. I'll take a look if you want me to but it's a feature that I don't use so I'm not familiar with it's intricacies. Although, perhaps someone else might be. Can't do any harm eh? :)

Don't blindly copy from default definitions!
