Best WAD for ZDOOM

Post by CameraMan#44 »

I was wondering what people thought was the best WAD for GZDOOM, can someone tell me? please

and does any one know if there is a wad out there that lets you play doom 64 through ZDOOM or GZDOOM?

There may be some level sets that include Doom 64 levels, but as far as I know there isn't a complete conversion for (G)Zdoom.

My favourite GZDoom-exclusive .wad right now is probably Stronghold, although it's still in development. It's a close run thing with Demon Eclipse, though (which is also work-in-progress).

If you include projects designed for ZDoom, the obvious answer is RTC-3057.. but since I contributed to that project, I'll go with Thunderpeak instead :).

There is no definitive answer for best GZDoom wad.

If I have to say something, then that would be Demon Eclipse, which is still in production.

I started converting Doom64 level1 from Kaiser source but give up because of colorsystem.
I'll finish that demo someday but Doom64 ex is better that what I can do with gzdoom. :)

I get so damn tired of people asking for "the best" such-and-such, without bothering to define just what "best" means.

If you know what you mean by "best", tell us, otherwise we can't possibly give you meaningful answers.

These are both excellent choices.

It'd be nice if Shaviro would release an official fix for RTC, though. Last I checked, recent ZDoom versions won't run it at all unless you change "Pistol" to something else like "Pistol1" in the DECORATE lump. It's a simple fix, but it seems to have confused a lot of potential players according to the /idgames reviews.

By best I mean what do people think is the most original or which wad has the coolest features.

But yes i do agree that my original post was pretty bad. I apologise for that.

any way thanks every one for giving me some suggestions. :D

Even when the wads for Zd are compatible with GZD, i see a obvious contradiction in the question/title.

Anybody who reads this thread, this is a very late heads up
I have asked the stupidest question ever in the history of man kind because I was very naive. :(
Please do not criticize me for this question, I am very serious about Doom and it is to me the game that will never die, even when Doom 4 is released.

Thank you to all the people that posted, sorry for the inconvenience.
In terms of this question and my life so far in this community, I am a n00b.

Yours sincerely,
