Heh, my little brother and I are a lot like that, Enjay, though he's more into making things with RPG Maker than ZDoom now, lol.

I like that gun, by the way. I thought the Doom hands were an original part of it, very well edited!

Chevy103, I wish I had a father that got me that wrapped up on Doom editing like that. I do envy you. :)

Doom God my dad once was on the BBS servers, he was too more focused on actually playing than any of the editing. Ah, well, one day we'll see you back on the field of battle, nickledime. One day.

Thanks for the welcome :)
My Dad finished play testing the level. We tried a co-op game and found it was possible to get stuck behind some bars if you died in the wrong place at the wrong time I didn't know how to fix it but my Dad did. He wrote a script that lets you lower the bars in multiplayer games. Anyway it's meant to be a single player level.

My Dad has just uploaded it to /incoming (my Dad said something about lamb to the slaughter) so look for a file called bfc103.zip. There is also a patch pk3 in the zip. If you load that it will replace the B-gun with the chaingun in case you don't like my gun.

I hope you enjoy it.

@Zippy was my punctuation and capitalisation better this time? :)

Much so. A one post gap between improvement also means you're doing about a million times better than some of the other newcomers.

First off, hello Enjay's son, and welcome to ZDoom!

Those screenshots do look really good... any chance we'll get to play this ourselves soon? ;P

It's in /newstuff, guys.

EDIT: Not bad, some pretty good stuff you got there. The map is a bit on the easy side but it plays well and is fun while it lasts.

This is pretty good!

My only real issue with the map was that I was running out of ammo at times, I don't know whether this was due to not enough ammo being put in, or just stupidity on my part. Apart from that, it's well built and you've got a decent grip on pacing things out. You've definitely got talent, and I look forward to any more levels you make.

I AM THE SANDMAN!
Just kidding.

For being 12 years old and actually being the son of the Maker of the Inca series, your map's great. Keep on the good work! ;)

Heh, I told him that some people like a tough map and he was like "do you think two fatso's is too much" I thought difficulty was pretty reasonable. I know that I died a few times on UV the first time through.

[edit]Does anyone fancy recording an uber-leet demo of them playing? I think he'd get a kick out of watching someone he's never met play through his map. [/edit]

Originally, ammo was certainly far too tight. After I played it through once, I told him and he put more in. Then there was too much, so he took some out. On the final play tests before uploading (checks notes...) I didn't ever run out of ammo totally, but sometimes only had either clips or shells. By the end of the map, I always had the luxury of picking which weapon I wanted to use for the final fights. And, of course, you get the chainsaw from the outset and a berserk fist near the start too if you find the secret and decide to use the berserk at that point (I usually leave it because I now know how the map plays and it tends to come in handy later on).

Anyway, here's my end-game ammo totals from the final playtests with 100% kills.

Easy
Clip 270
Shell 74
Rocket 14

Medium
Clip 270
Shell 26
Rocket 7

Hard
Clip 171
Shell 35
Rocket 0

Also, you can get 40 shells if you find both backpacks but there are no weapons to use them (which is why he changed the plasma zombie to drop health bottles and not cells). I did pick up the ammo in the secrets, but thats only 1 backpack and 1 clip box if you don't count the rocket launcher secret (which I can't imagine many people missing). So, from the secrets, I got 60 clips, 4 shells and 1 rocket which would stil have left me plenty of ammo from those final totals had I not found the secrets.

Anyway, I'd better get him out of bed so that he can read his comments. Lazy swine. It's 1pm :)
