Re: Demon Eclipse (WIP) - Even MOAR concepts Up (p.71)
I could aptly name them the Demon Wars if we're gonna be prefixing the sequels 'Demon' then.

Re: Demon Eclipse (WIP) - Even MOAR concepts Up (p.71)
Just dropped by with my oridinary "awesome work" post as I see there's been some activity in the past days. So yeah, awesome work out there

What abouit female zombie marines, former humans, shotgun sergeants, chaingunners, etc equalivants?Eriance wrote:@Nightmare Doom: I have no other female demons planned for Demon Eclipse thus far (besides the Stygian Larvae). Howeverl, the Sequel (if I ever get to it) "Demon Appocolypse" will certainly have some more female monsters. I do however, have some female scientist zombies planned for Episode-4 of DE.
Re: Demon Eclipse (WIP) - Even MOAR concepts Up (p.71)
@ND: No plays or need for other Female Zombies in DE. There are already plenty of hitscan folks in normal Doom 1 & 2.

But their also males which we need female counterparts to fight along with them just add to the realism...besides Doom takes place in the far future and gender equality rights would have been far approved by then.Eriance wrote:@ND: No plays or need for other Female Zombies in DE. Re: Demon Eclipse (WIP) - Even MOAR concepts Up (p.71)
If DE doesn't need the monsters, I wont sprite it. Spriting monsters that I have no use for is waste of my spare time.

@UA: IF (big IF) I finish DE, then yes, there will be new monsters for DA. However, it's probably gonna be just a new boss and maybe 1 or 2 new ones at most. DE will have all the monsters I will need for any doom mod i could ever hope to make. Any more and it would be Me-too monsters (if there wasn't already enough of those in DE). However, with the advant of Doomscript, it might be possible to make more interest monsters. Who knows.
The only reason why I split Episode 3 into seperate stages within a HUB was because I was aware that there are too many me-too monsters already. Putting all the ones with similar themes and splitting them off serves to minimize the Zoo-ness of the mod and also making each sub-stage have its very unique feel.
@Bold Englishman: Yes, DE, for the most part, had been planned out a long time ago before episode 2 was ever finished (the first version). Of course, i edited a lot of the monsters; removed some, and added some. However, the over all storyline has remained constant. DA was originally part of DE, which focuses on the number 6. Each episode having 6 levels, and having 6 episodes in total. But i've decided to split the last two epsodes up into an expansion-pack because I want to reinforce the original intent of DE, which is a Retelling of Doom and Doom2 in the eyes of another marine.
DE therefor is like Ultimate Doom, but with the episode order in reverse. DA will be like Doom 2, focuses on high-tech cities and other facilities, then an All out hell epsiode.

UPDATE:
Here's 4 new monsters: The "Stygian Larva", "Castor", "Hierophant", and "Pitlord" (had a long break between classes).

Stygian Larva: Immature form of the Hornets, and found only in their nests. These are weak range + melee that spit out toxic projectiles and slashes with their claws. They are fast and found in masses. Based strongly on the "Cherub" from doom 3.
Castor: The flying demon for the "Throne of Chaos" stage (also the main hub). This is demon charges up powerful homing projectiles and fires it from the air. Very similar to the original design, except i replaced the Zergling claws with mutated hands instead.
Heirophant: Midboss monster for "City of the Damned". This powerful demon is like a dark priest, able to cast various attacks and the ability to curse you, making you (and anyone caught in the area) take 2x the damage for a short duration. This is a completely new demon meant to replace the Deathknights in EP3. The design is based on the Hunter Helltime from Doom3 and some of my own designs.
Pitlord: Big Boss of "Tartarus" with the most powerful fire-based attacks in the game. Has the ability to dump meteors on you, shoot out a jet of flames, and 2 fire-projectile attacks. Can also move undected within it's lava lake and pop up behind you to kick your ass. I changed the design a bit so it doesnt look so much like a giant Baron of Hell on fire. I removed the "fire mane" around its head because it would be hard for other people to recolor it later (though i may just make 2 versions).

Cool concepts. Hierophant and castor are odd names, but that may be just because I'm too pedantic. The larva doesn't get a skull-head at its tail-end?

The heirophant is awesome! I cannot wait to see these things sprited!
Re: Demon Eclipse (WIP) - Yet even MOAR concepts Up (p.72)
My first reactions on these (other than they are all very cool and I wish I had a fraction of your talent) purely based on what they make me think when I look at them:
Hellion - very Achvile-like.
Wicked? (can't quite read the name) - reminds me of the Quake Wizard.
Hornet - very insectoid, which I personally don't equate with daemonic. I'm having difficulty working out how it will move and behave, what with having a large, upside down head below its body.
Castor - Like a cross between the Hellion and the Wicked.
Abomination - like I said, very reminiscent of the RTCW electro-enemy thingy.
Ignusi? - Not quite sure what to think about it, other than cool, of course. It concerns me that all that detail around the face may be lost at sprite resolution. It also looks like something that has been contrived to be freaky and scary, rather than actually being freaky and scary.
Defiler - Quake Vore with additional insectoid overtones.
Hierophant - very nasty (in a good way) very hellish, very daemonic, very Doom.
Stygian Queen and Larva - again very cool, freaky and insectoid, but not automatically daemonic to me (even with the big skull tail).
Overlord - Unquestionably a bad-ass Caco/PE-like monster
Pitlord - Very classically daemonic (maybe too classical? - although I really like him). Like the Baron's evil uncle or something.
Torrasque - as I said before, it reminds me of the Quake fiend but it certainly has elements of monsters from other games that I can't quite put my finger on ATM.

Can you give the defiler nipples since the other male demons have them also for realism?

All awesome.
Torrasque reminds me of the Zerg torrasque mixed with the quake fiend mixed with the doom 3 hell knight. awesome.
...and I refuse to comment at Nightmare Doom.

Those concepts are absolutely GREAT!!! Keep it up!
I think you can use the Cyberdemon as a base for the Heirophant and the Pitlord...

Re: Demon Eclipse (WIP) - Yet even MOAR concepts Up (p.72)
@ Morpheus: I wont use any other monsters to edit these from. They will all be from Scratch. Dont wanna copypasta too much anymore. Want something unqiue for DE.
@ Gez: Heirophant is a greek word for "the one to bring holy order". In many RPG games, it's used in synonym to a High ranking priest. Castor/Caster is the name of a demon in the Bible. As for the Larva, it only gets a skull after metamorphosis into the Hornet.
@Enjay: It's "Ignist", its the monster I first used for the cheap spriting tutorial thing. I just redesigned it a bit. The Pitlord is based a bit on Hellboy, lol. And yes, the Heirophant is my favorite of them all so far.
@ NighmareDoom: ...I really don't know how to respond to that.
