My laptop should be able to fit that bill. (AMD Sempron 3000+, 512Mb RAM with 128Mb used for graphics. Runs almost any game made in the 21st century like shit)Virgil wrote:I probably know the answer to this already, but do any of you ever use a horrendously outdated PC to play? By today's standards, I'm talking like, below a P4 or below 512MB RAM and a graphics card with less than 64MB.

Re: [WIP] Space Fragments
My computer doesn't. I have a 256MB RAM, and I think I have a graphics card of 11MB.

Uh, the bill was to have something lower than what Virgil said, not higher.Unknown_Assassin wrote:My computer doesn't. I have a 256MB RAM, and I think I have a graphics card of 11MB.

Re: [WIP] Space Fragments
Sorry for being a dumb ass, but how does 256MB ram end up being higher than what Virgil was seeking for, and 11 MB being higher too?
Re: [WIP] Space Fragments
I guess I should be more specific (hopefully without giving anything away). I'd like to know if most of you can run a ZDOOM map with obscene amounts of enemies and detail without ever going below 30FPS. I'm talking like Vrack 2-type detail MINIMUM (not counting all the slopes and ZDOOM special effects) and at least 1000 monsters (think Deus Vult, Hell Revealed, Nuts, etc.). It's not that I will have a map with thousands of monsters, but some of the areas in the maps may very well equate to such a CPU/memory load.
Re: [WIP] Space Fragments
I rarely go below 900 FPS, so...
.

Re: [WIP] Space Fragments
it shouldnt do something crazy unless all the monsters are doing something all at once

I think he was talking about how UA said his computer didn't qualify for Virgil's "bill".Blade Nightflame wrote:Sorry for being a dumb ass, but how does 256MB ram end up being higher than what Virgil was seeking for, and 11 MB being higher too?
Anyways, the screenies look VERY nice, and my computer shouldn't have a bit of trouble running this.

Well, the other reason I asked about hardware was that I am now planning to make Claust 2 for GZDOOM and am going to probably heavily abuse dynamic lighting (dynamic light sources, etc.) and sloped/translucent 3d floors.
So, yeah... I want to get an idea of how many people would also be able to run an obscenely large/detailed GZDOOM level (In OpenGL) without their computer exloding.

Re: [WIP] Space Fragments
Shouldn't be a problem for me, having recently upgraded to a 512 MB GeForce 8800 GT. I also have 2 GB of RAM and a Pentium D at 3 GHz. I can run most wads with no problem (save for Minas Morgul in DV2).

Not a problem for me either.
