Ummm... That's sort of what I said. The reason we can see stuff that isn't in front of us is because we don't use ZDoom's rendering style. You can display a lensed image on a flat surface. Photographs do this. While curving the screen around your head and and drawing ZDoom-style on the screen would still look distorted, and you wouldn't be able to draw more than 180 degrees. It's obvious that you haven't actually looked into this. Download POV-Ray or something and try out some different rendering styles. You'll see what I mean.Lexus Alyus wrote:Yeah, and the only way to create this effect in a cvideo game is to create a monitor that bowls in... great idea!
No, your wrong mister Togos! The onlyt reason why we see the way we see is bewcause we aren't ristricted to seeing whats infronot of us
Lens-style rendering is easy if you have a ray-tracer, but I don't know about otherwise. I've never seen *any* game that renders this way. The reason ZDoom has such a crappy renderer is becauseLexus wrote: I'm not critisizing or asking for anything, but i'm cureouse to know why Zdoom hasn't got a better renderer? 1. That's what Doom had
2. It's fast
3. It works
4. Nobody's written a better one (ZDoom GL has issues, you know)
Re: Freelook
I meant Legacy, Edge, the likes of Q2/3, Half-Life and derivatives thereof. Basically, the ability to shoot a Cacodemon which is right above the player or something.adx wrote:maybe one of the reason is that they wouldn't allow you to see your foot, as far as i know, there isn't any FPS that would allow you to see your foot when you look down.cccp_leha wrote:Why does ZDoom have limited freelook? What I mean is that the view only goes so much up/down.

I don't think so... I think that's the lowest you can look down and if you could shoot your toes trhen it probably wouldnt' do anything... it might be a nice touch if you could though (/giest was dumb enough to shoot himself in the toe!)
. I still think that feet thing is nice little touch... the game isn't too bad either...

Something interesting I noticed about mouselooking -
In Blood, in addition to y-shearing, the CAMERA itself slowly adjusts its height as you look up and down - it gives a weird but cool looking perspective effect.
This effect is even more noticable when you're crouching. If you have Blood, try crouching and mouselookihg slowly. Neat eh?
(This was tested with Blood Plasma Pak - I'm not sure if the behaviour exists in older versions of Blood or not)
Another thing - does anyone think the mouselook limit for looking upwards in ZDoom is a bit too limited? You can look down really far but you can't look up as much - In Duke3D you could look up just as much as you could looking down.
Just a thought.
