ÆoD (Old thread)

Projects that have specifically been abandoned or considered "dead" get moved here, so people will quit bumping them. If your project has wound up here and it should not be, contact a moderator to have it moved back to the land of the living.

by the look of that pic, seems like you are not running the mod with the decorate.aed (probably neither the keyconf.aed).

How did you run the mod?

to tell you the truth, i never liked that way you use, because sometimes it loads first one file that must be loaded after (let's say) the PK3 file.

the best way to run the mod, is via command line or shortcut:
either case, the line must be like:

(assuming you have installed the mod at "c:\zdoom\")

c:\zdoom\gzdoom.exe -file aeod.pk3 decorate.aed keyconf.aed

or if you have the last version i uploaded (wih the pk3 name mistake)
c:\zdoom\gzdoom.exe -file ae1.pk3 decorate.aed keyconf.aed

try that way, if still doesnt work, please tell me the name of the Pk3 file(s) and location of the (g)zdoom exe and aeod files.

as the name suggest (somehow) it contains all the midis i chose for the mod. is not mandatory to use it, of course.

if you want to use it, doesnt matter where you put it in the command line.
my suggestion is you add it at the very end of the command line.

May I suggest some monsters?
  • First off, the Tormentor's Bestiary is a nice source for them.
  • Rip something from Run the Bunny as secret SS Nazi replacements.
  • Also, rip from Wolfenstein 3d and Spear of Destiny for SS Nazi or whichever replacement you want. You're win if you put them.
  • Maybe I can pass you some monsters from abandoned and unreleasable wads I have. Like Atdlan (from WoW, a Human PC that does /chicken on you), a Fel Orc with an optional hammer, or lightsabre guys (which sprites are based on Epidermis Emporium skins). You may modify these as your desire.
  • Read above if I reach home. At cybercafe ATM.
  • Get something from Half-Life, like the headcrabs or something. With a HL Model Viewer it is easy to rip, as the sounds are in the .pak's in the game.
  • Finally, BAZOOKA has made some Postal 2/Serious Sam weapon mods out there. Search for these mods and you'll get weapons with his permission.
Off-topic: I want a playlist generator for ZDoom.

I wrote time ago about the serious sam mod here http://forum.zdoom.org/potato.php?p=289 ... ht=#289316 . Any mod or rip of the Serious Sam games is not permitted. This guy waste his time in that mod lol
I also saw this guy did a cool Postal 2 mod and seems like he is working on Eternal Damnation modification for Doom http://mods.moddb.com/9742/eternal-damnation-is-doomed/
Seems good.

Ripfests are, as a rule, never permitted. Software companies usually prefer turning a blind eye rather than bothering with sending rabid packs of bloodthirsty lawyers against pennyless teenagers (they couldn't beat the RIAA anyway), especially for old games that aren't selling much anymore; but they're never legit: it's a copyrighty violation.

There's no middle-ground of "it's okay to rip from Blood and Duke Nukem and whatever but not from Serious Sam" -- either it's never okay, or you never care.

Didn't know about the Serious Sam stuff. Or didn't remember. Anyways, I'm home. I can pass you those old wads when you're on MSN.

ok, let me see:
about the wolf3d sprites: i have already a good amount of woldf3dish stuff, just need to fix a little and then add.
about run the bunny: what is that? :P i googled it and just found something relative to duracell's game... is that about it?
about the monsters of your creation: as long as they are not like jokes :D is ok, i think jokeish monsters are kind of out of place in ÆoD.
about the halflife rips: let me see if i can manage to rip from it, i tried once and the result ended very wrong :nope:
about the mods: i checked the serious sam one, and to tell you the truth i didnt find it too atractive, but didnt even downloaded it (i just watched the video), however, I think i'll have to take a closer look.

Yes, Run the Bunny is some childish Duracell game. However, it may serve for secret SS Soldier replacements.

Also: check Operation Bodycount and other Wolf3d-engine games. You may have forgot them.

The Fel orc anyways may serve for you actually. Or the Star Wars nerd, like it were a normal Star Wars Sith/Jedi.

"la noche de los civiles vivientes" is pretty fun, but i think the beggars are too healthy!! how can a middle age "looking healthy" tall guy be weaker than those beggars?

I think I'll take some sprites from here! also from the lost civilizations (i think that is the name... )

(MAYBE the cyberborat will find a way to make it in!)

thanks for sharing!

No problem. But maybe I have mistaken it. Is jtr_doom_xs there?

EDIT: Maybe you can edit those monsters to get them as you may want.
