Unless you can name one of the monsters in might and magic that'd make a good "bouncy". :P

Ooh, those.

You want the standing one or the crystal-dragon/dog one? :P

The standing crystal creature. It will either replace the Baron or Revenant.

Ok, minor issue with the crystal monster;

doesn't convert well to doom palette.

to prove my point...

now, I have the option of changing it's color, but the only thing that comes out well is this, and i'm not too sure I like it...

Hmm, I like the silverish brown color you've changed it too. It kind of looks yellow diamond. If it's not too much work or trouble changing all the frames to that color scheme, I still want it. :) I'll call it a Diamond Elemental and make it really tough. :D

I'm debating how the final weapon should work. I think it should be a very powerful sword that deals out every damage type when it strikes something, but it should require a hefty bargain in return. Something like picking it up makes you lose all your previous weapons until you find replacements in the map. Should be interesting.

few ideas;

the sword can do it's massive damage but at the cost of your health as "ammo".

Extremely slow attack and leaves you vulnerable.

Makes you very slow while wielding.

Mabye you can only use it a few times then it breaks or you just can't hold it anymore because it's power will consume you and drive you insane.

OR!! oh what a great idea. Before you use it you have to find a rare item that purges your soul of evil allowing you to use this holy weapon (that was stolen from Dark Messiah :P)

But whatever. :D

Calling all monster enthusiasts!

I'm going to be honest and say I've hit a modder's block. Don't worry, it's not from lack of ideas! No, it's from lack of sounds. I have all these great ideas for monsters, but a dirth of sounds. So I'm asking you guys what you think I should do.

Should I A) code the monsters, but leave them silent until appropriate sounds are found or B) use Heretic and Hexen sounds until suitable replacements are found?

In other news, I'm going to remove the brute. They are simply too ugly and dumb looking to be kept in the mod. They will replaced by Vader's far superior Satyr. Since the brutes carried the gladius, which replaces the chainsaw and was otherwise rare until you killed one, I'm going to need a human replacement. I'm going to look through the Might & Magic monsters and find an appropriate looking human.

It does seem a bit of a shame to crucify some of these beautiful hi-res monsters by forcing them into the Doom palette, especially when some of them really don't come out that well. Why not make the sprites PNGs with their own palette? That way, Zdoom will convert them to the Doom palette on the fly and GZdoom will show them in their proper colours. What's more, doing so would make them "game independent" and people could therefore use them for Doom, Heretic, Hexen or even Strife without any modification.
