need a little help... [solved]

Post by Waffle »

Hello, I am a little new to Zdoom and I need a little help. I already know how to load Iwads, but I do not know how to load custom Pwads. I have read the wiki, but it did not help. May someone assist me with my problem?

You have windows? If so, drag and drop the wad file onto the executable.

Also, if that tactic seems a bit odd or you have to drag it through multiple directories, then just right click on the Pwad and left click on "Open With" them left click on "Choose program". Next, left click on "browse", and find the zdoom executable file (.exe). The wad will then be opened by zdoom. Also, every time you right click on a wad from now on and press open, the wad will be opened by zdoom.

EDIT: Copy "DooM2.wad" from the Doom2 directory and into zdoom's.

It is in the same directory( it is the weapon/monster mod called OMG weapons (by deathz0r)).
I have heard about and wanted to try it, and I can not get it to work. I can get normal Iwad files to work.

There are no maps in OMGweapons.

Are you sure doom2.wad is in the same directory as zdoom.exe?

In concurrence with Nash.

Be absolutly sure "DooM2.wad" is in the same directory (folder) as ZDoom, and that Zdoom is de-compressed (you download the zip file). Also, like Nash said, there are no maps in OMG Weapons, being that as it is, you have to extract the weapons and monsters you want (credit too) from the wad and place them in yours. That includes the Decorate lump.

EDIT: Uh, I'm pretty sure that the end of what I just said makes sense to you. [/sarcasm]

To extract the weapons/monsters you want (after you make a map to use them with), you'll need XWE (eXtendable Wad Editor). Then you'll be able to use the 'merge' option to fuse the Map you make with OMGWeapons! Still hard to understand, but until you get zdoom to work I don't feel like writing a step by step explaination. If you get it to work, I might write how to merge wads for you (it might be in the wiki, but I'm too lazy to check).

Don't confuse him any further.

If fmod.dll isn't present, the error message would be different than what he posted in his screenshot. Besides, it shouldn't be a problem because ZDoom and almost all unofficial SVN builds do include fmod in the download package.

Also with OMGweapons, if you've loaded it successfully, you should see the change immediately when you play normal Doom - different monsters replacing all the default monsters, and if you use IDKFA you'll get a bunch of new never-seen-before weapons. No need to mess around with WAD editors.

I dont mean to make a map or something, I just want to play it.And please totally disregard that error message, I have a different computer with the original DOOM wad files and they work fine. I just want to know how to play them with OMG Weapons.

(Ughh...Sorry for being n00bish with the unclarity of the message)

Just put the IWAD (doom.wad, doom2.wad, ect.) into the ZDoom folder by selecting it in whatever folder it's in, C+Ctrl, then click on the ZDoom folder and V+Ctrl. Then, drag the PWAD into the ZDoom program.

no, there is a different thing I need to do, I need DOOM 2 to run with the "OMG weapons!" weapon/monster edit.
