"Aqua imp" monster

Post by Pelle123 »

Hey all... I started drawing my own monster few days ago and i think it's
near of being finished (one frame). I just want to know if you people like this "Aqua imp" :) He is going to be able to shoot some kind of electric beam/balls from that ?rod/wand?

Generally yes, though the saturated colours in the picture make him look a bit "cartoony" -- unless this is for a joke WAD in which case he'd make a great "annoying little sod" type of character. He could perhaps be more rugged, so you might consider having a look at some of HeXen's aquatic monsters for extra ideas.

Being aquatic, perhaps he should have a trident (so-called because in Latin it means "three teeth"), though two prongs looks good here -- guess you've invented a new weapon - the "bident":)

I agree with MartinHowe with it on looking cartoony, make it look more like the original Imp, but with aquatic features.

I think he's just suggesting it so you can get some ideas on how to take away the cartoon-ish aspects of it and make it a bit more realistic. Granted, this version appears to be 4x the size of what it would normally be, it couldn't hurt to investigate methods that help it look more like a Doomish monster :)

I think it looks pretty good. To be honest, my first impression was along the lines of an evil teletubbie

That's different from a normal one how? :P

Anyway, you might want to put the back foot closer to the front one, as that sprite would look rather odd standing still in Doom.

Agree 100% -- that's exactly what I meant and I like Kirby's comment too.

Well, yes, like Kirby said; in HEXEN.WAD -- I was thinking about the bad guy that hides underwater and then attacks you, the stalker. I have never even played HeXen II, if that was what you meant :)
