640x400 and 320x200 resolution modes.... [2.1.7]

Post by doom2day »

Technically they are on the wrong page. Clearly if one were to divide the two by 40 and 20 respectively, they would get 16x10 which is not 4x3, therefore, wouldn't it be logical to place them in the right section by moving them from the 4x3 to the 16x10??

I believe the reason they're in the "wrong place" is because they were the original resolutions used by Doom and Doom 95 (respectively) even though the game was designed for play on a 4:3 ratio monitor.

As HotWax said, historically-speaking they may be in the right place, but I agree that "technically" speaking they're on the wrong page. So it's Randy's call.

While, technically, they may now be considered widescreen modes, for many many years they were not and were displayed at a 4:3 ratio. They are in the right place, since Doom didn't use 320x200 as widescreen.
