Heh, I have no idea how to recompile it. All I know is you need Maya installed for it to compile. I'd imagine you'd also need Visual C++ (could be worth it to try VC++ Express), since it has a .dsp file (Visual C++ project file) in the source zip. I didn't investigate what libraries or anything are needed.

Hello.

I know this part of the conversation took place a few days ago, but that might be something I could come out of retirement for.

I'd love to see ST become part of ZDoom, if it were done in such a way that the netcode was more centric (so that it doesn't affect every function, as Graf pointed out) and the actual game-changing content was moved out of the main file.

Having both networking models available and the potential for a greatly expanded community would be nifty.

My only fear is that doing this would bring the drama from the ST forums to here. :?

Carn, I'm not a regular here, but I would love to see you joining forces with Zdoom and bringing everything you've worked hard on to the table. Ever since Doomsday grew to 3 devs, it is almost like nothing can go wrong, and as long as you can work harmoniously, even if it is just discussing changes before committing them, I see no long term ill caused by such a thing.

I'm even different in that I'd have no objection to Skulltag gameplay and items amalgamated into Zdoom, because I do not deem anything of it to be intrusive. Skulltag maps have to be there to take advantage of Skulltag features, and as far as I am concerned, the more the merrier. If anyone wants to disagree, then get rid of those ridiculous 'Andy Baker's Stealth Monsters' or stick a towel in your mouth. 'Game changing content', BAH. Burn all your fantasticly unique Zdoom wads and go home.

Aren't you glad we have moderators?! ;)

:o :D That's what I like to hear! So that's a positive word from you and Graf, and a somewhat confusing positive note from Timmie. Wonder if Randy will ever want to work with others to incorporate features/code from ZDooM's own spawn back into ZDooM.... :?

Here's another vote for developer alliance.

The more the merrier.

The ST forum had moderators, and look what happened to it.

I'm glad that so far the moderators here haven't gone overboard (or haven't been allowed to). That doesn't mean the same thing couldn't happen here once idiots are running rampant all over the forums.

ST is a multiplayer forum which by its very nature is more [censored word], I am sorry to say. I have no idea why but the idiots seem to be much more strongly attracted to virtually butchering each other rather than some hellspawn...

Randy was never against the idea of merging at some point, but, at the same time, really likes to do things at his own speed. Which is perfectly fine by me because it also means that he never rushes into anything without being prepared.

It'd be awesome if the ports merged together. Then we'd get a bigger community, sure some more n00bs, but there's also the people that aren't n00bs.

If you get more "n00bs", then just moderate more, or do something to segment the community (like maybe some people could start a private message board or something). Why is that such a problem?

I think the problem is that this place is viewed by its regulars as a last bastion of idiot free discussion.

Because it could get way out of control and the moderators couldn't handle it.
