Yeah, I meant Bit... Damn typos! Interestingly enough, I can spell... quite well, but I tend to type really fast with one thinger! I've been typing like this for years and as you have noticed it creates loads of typos... and my spelling just gets bad from time to time because I'm thinking more about what I want to say without actually thinking while I'm typing... that doesn't make sense? Oh well...
PlayStation 2: I never usually spell check these things eaither... cus I'm lazy . Plus, you have people writing all sorts of [censored word] shorthand... so whats the big deal in a few typos and spelling mistakes? At least I don't type with my arse (in equivelent to talking out of omesarse arse!)... Mmm, maybe I should try that... Oh, and i'm gonna make the useless excuse...
Useless Excuse: I'm English! Well, yeah, seeing as most of you are American and spell a lot of words differantly (especially their pronunceations... big word... don't know how to spell it ) then mine might be wring to you (Enjay, David, are my spellings really bnad?). Plus, words that I don';t know i spell out... and because I pronounce words completely differently to everyone I know... so there!
I have often seen people say the downside with midis is that they sound shitty on shitty equipment.
Now, whilst this is certainly true, and I accept that the way a midi sounds is still dependant on hardware and will therefor still vary from computer to computer, how many computers are fitted with sound cards that make midis sound shitty these days?
It is a very long time - almost 10 years - since I got my first really decent sound card with good support for midi playback. Prior to that, things could sound like a dodgy ringtone. However, I can't remember the last time I used a computer (mine, at work or other people I know) and found the sound card to be so poor as to make a midi sound like a series of bleeps and plinky noises little better than the PC speaker.
So, midis may not always sound the same from computer to computer (and that is a consideration), but are there really that many shitty sound cards out there? If there are, then the people who own them need to get new sound cards. Especially if they are running a computer capable of running Zdoom. Why on earth would they have such a poor sound card in a computer where the rest of the machine's specs are to a better and newer standard than those which make midis sound bad? Anyway, it's been possible to pick up good cheap sound cards for years now. If people are still using old shitty cards, then I personally wouldn't worry about a midi that I'd stuck into a WAD sounding shitty on their machine, because the person who owns the machine apparently isn't worried about the fact their sound card sounds shitty. In fact, they may have had to make a serious effort to get themselves a machine with such a bad sound card as such a card really isn't the default these days.
Byte for Byte, midis give you a helluva lot of music for your download.
The above being said, mods and mp3s (etc) do generally sound better IMO and I prefer them. But for us slow modem types, the file size may be prohibitive.
There have been quite a few WADs released that use mod or mp3 music - and the file size is often huge. If I see the big file size, I usually wait to see what other people say about the wad. If it is apparently worth DLing, then I'll put up with the long DL time. If the wad gets mixed reviews, I will maybe DL it if I have some time and I can be bothered waiting. Equally well, I may not DL it. If it gets bad reviews, I simply won't bother. Whereas a level with midi music in it is more likely to get downloaded and played by me, regardless of what people have said about it (in fact, usually before many people have commented on it), simply as a function of me being prepared to download something that takes a few minutes instead of a few hours. I know this does mean I may miss out on some wads I would like, but I have other things to do with my time than watch a download meter slowly creeping towards 100%
But, hey, it's you. I'd think there was something wrong if you started spelling correctly. Maybe even an invasion of the body snatchers kind of scenario.

How do you play a mp3 file you have on your computer in Zdoom like say I'm playing a wad and instead of listening to the same old music I pull out for instance an mp3 from The Clash how would I play Zdoom with that music instead I've looked everywhere and no one has an answer to my question. Is there some command line option I need to use to get this to work
Anyway, to answer your question, get XWE, import an mp3 into your wad and name it D_RUNNIN, exactly. The mp3 will play where the normal Entryway theme would.
BTW, it is frowned upon to bump threads by TWO YEARS. Check the dates next time, k? Or just make a new thread.
Also make sure that this "mp3" is NOT commercial i.e. you have to buy it in order to listen to it. Commercial mp3s often take hours to download if in a wad and are also illegal. Just a forewarning.
you dont even need a wad, just put it in a zip file in a directory called music, and rename it D_RUNNIN.mp3 simple, use the same way as a wad tho(drag and drop)
so to recap
your_zip\music\D_RUNNIN.mp3 -> Drag and Drop to ZDoom
Ok say I'm playing a wad that doesn't have new music how do I drag and drop the wad and the zip file containing the music to Zdoom so I can play the new level with new music
never mind I figured that out got another question so D_RUNNIN is what I change the mp3 name to to play as replacement music on map01 what do I change the mp3 to for the other 31 levels or is there a link that tells me what to do or a previous forum post that lists what you need to rename the mp3 to play it on different maps. Like say I want to play one mp3 for map01 and another for map02 what would I rename the mp3 file to to replace the normal map02 music
