[ZDoom Related] What are some good wads?

To all of your personal opinions, what are some good wads to play on ZDoom or any kind of PWAD to play with this type of port?

Current PWADs (Played)
  • AV.WAD, AVMOVEFIX.WAD
    DARK7.WAD
    DARK7MPK.WAD

You have already played Dark 7, and that was one of the must :D

Other WADS i higly reccomand, in no particular order:

* RTC-3057 - one of the best WADS ever made for Doom. It feels so much like System Shock, it has great interactive environments, the best scripting
i've ever found in a zdoom map and great levels. Play this one now!

* Massmouth - very good TC

* Massmouth 2 - improves the original in every possible way, it has great scripting (even NPCs) and it's (or, at least, was) the first wad with multiple endings

* Almost every map made by LittleWhiteMouse, probably the most creative WADS ever made for zdoom. Especially reccomanded are:
- HQuest 10, the most original experience i've ever had with Zdoom
- Chibi Rebellion
- A furry tale retold
- Lywren
- Chosen
- Hellspawn
Some of these, unfortunately, are incomplete.

* The Darkest Hour - great Star Wars TC, 7-levels hub

* Daedalus - fun but difficult story-driven wad

* ZBloodPak - great TC, especially for tons of new monsters and weapons

* Trust - Half-Life ripoff, great TC with a cool dialogue system and NPCs

* Simplicity - great level design, some great ideas and two wonderful boss battles.

* Cyberdreams - one of the most innovative WADS ever made. Absolutely a must play.

* Hell Factory - one of the first hubs for Zdoom and probably one of the best

* TeiTenga - old but fun; it's the first hub ever made and it has a very diffuclt final battle with a railgun boss

* Space Station Omega - a single map wad with an INTERACTIVE dialogue
system and non-linear gameplay. A must play!

* All hell is breaking loose - great hilarious TC, with some now monsters and cool programming

* Action Doom - one of the greatest "alternative" WADS. great programming, great graphics, great everything!

* Alien TC - this is the least reccomanded, but it's the first true TC.

* Batman Doom - great TC with some very creative ideas

All these wads are on /idgames, except LilWhiteMouse ones, but you can find the links easily if you search the forum (Lywren and Chibi Rebellion here: http://forum.zdoom.org/potato.php?p=236 ... ht=#236895)

Have fun! :D

I heard that Dark7 was one of the good modifications for ZDoom that anyone should download as of now. I will give the other files a go as well. Thanks for your submits! Oh and they do not have to be all ZDoom Wads.

@James Sethorn:

Massmouth 2 was not the only one with multiple endings, there was also Strife: Trust No One that had such, including but not limited to: hubs, inventory, upgradable accuracy and stamina, npc talking, etc..

But that's not an unoffical wad anyway. :P

I do not have strife, and no one sells it.

Yeah, really great game. You're right about the endings: in fact there were some decisions which could alter the story of the game (to kill or not to kill Macil, for example).

I wish I could share the moments here but I do not have the game so I cannot even think about what you are taking about. Would be nice to hear though. Or maybe I should buy the game.

I managed to download the Strife1.wad for free. :o

@Blade: I've never heard of that wad. When you say it's "not an unofficial wad" what do you mean by that exactly? :?

"But that's not an unoffical wad anyway. :P" was what I said, just there incase the author only requested good PWads to play, not generally IWads to boot. ;)

I'll chip in the following:

Go to my site, they might not be great (or even very zdoom) but you might find something you like. (Plus I get to toot my own horn :P )

Also, check out Titan for a nice Zdoom wad (Dunno why this one in particular came to mind). Other advisable wads would be (I'm going to try and not suggest those already suggested) Void, HR, MM, Scythe, T667's stuff (TNT series in particular), HTI and HTI2, Zen Dynamics (look for it on the forum, as it ain't on the archive) and stuff by ReX.
