I got one done. No attacks, but it's done and ripped.
Has decorate.
Has sounds.
No attacks. just wanders around.

Well, the decorate code isn't really important. Anybody using the monsters will probably need to adjust the decorate code so the monster is balanced in their wad anyway. Also, decorate coders are a dime a dozen, but sprites like these are hard to find.

Hey!

New screenies.

These guys aren't to scale, because of the way the sprites are stored... (Which is why the archer is so big and the knight is so tiny, and the dragon wouldn't know glory if it bit him in the pants [/butcherd quote]) But they have all already been converted to the doom palette, so this is how they'll look in game.

No, I was talking about the knight knight. The one in red armor, not red robes.

You want the files?
We can send you both the .lod files and the utility used to view them, and if you see anything you want, you can just grab it.

Can I request that people do not convert them to the Doom palette? Or at least make a converted and an unconverted version? It seems pointless to crucify the colours when some people might want to use them in GZdoom. Anyone should be able to load the Doom palette into the graphics, but if they are already provided in the Doom palette, they can never be restored to their former glory. :?

Huh? GZDoom can handle sprites not in the doom palette?

That's news to me.

How do you get it to load in XWE, though?

Save them as a paletted PNG (using your graphics program to set the transparent area). Load them into a WAD as raw lumps. Use XWE to set their offsets. You can also use the hirestex lump to use 24bit images, but most of the time that simply isn't necessary for simple sprites.

Simple example (if you've seen it) I used an altered palette in my Operation Overlord but didn't want some of the items to be changed (the soul sphere and maybe something else from what I remember) so I re-imported them as a paletted PNG images.

More recently, a few of the sprites I used in my Heretic conversion of my Thief level are also paletted PNG images.
