I'd like to see those demos then :P. Yes, the ones that you no longer mention in your post :P.
Sorry--I'm like 20 days behind. I don't come here that often anymore. :-(

I certainly have a boatload a demos on that map. Problem is, they're not very spectator friendly as we talk on skype while we play, and so there are often several minutes of dead time, or fuck around time, in the middle of the matches while one of us tells the other a story, etc.

But, the next time we have a good match, I'll make sure to post it. :-D
Love that level--best DM map ever.

No wonder you tell stories during the DM - the level's unplayable.

The Chasm, IMHO, is a great example of how the mappers got serious mapper's block in some places.

In terms of a realistic space? Or a beautiful place to hang out in? It's certainly neither of those, but there aren't any places like that in Doom II.

I guess I just don't understand what you mappers think makes a good map. Most of the wad files I've played are good for one or two run throughs-and that's it. Whereas the Chasm has brought me back week after week for a decade.

Thing about the Chasm is its nonlinearity. In fact, it has some sort of an anti-linearity that refuses to let you play it the exact same way every time you play it.

Which would be another way of saying you can play it over and over again. :-D
