O shiii! I didn't have time last night but now I donloaded and browsed through the beta. This is even more awesome than I had thought! There are so many textures! :D I love them, especially the medieval ones!

Great job, once again! I think I should make a map with a selection of those.

I advise it. You should see some of the themes you can come out with.

What started out as a techbase map for me has turned into some sort of archeaological research facility, complete with crates and artifacts scattered about the base, and a mini dig site. (and yes this is only one large room with appendages)

Yeah, and don't forget to deliver me your changes and additions, that's the most important thing before I start on BETA2

Well, the ANIMDEFS I made is included in the wad, but doesn't account for all of the switches and stuff. I imagine I'll be putting the map on here either today or tomorrow, BTW.

As promised I have experimented with as many textures as possible whilst making one big room (with many little areas sticking off to the sides). It follows a sort of Tech base theme, but the base was founded on archeological research and in house power through nuclear and thermal energy.

You may find some areas a little lacking in detail, but, as good a mapper as I may think I am, know that I've not got the mapping experience behind me concerning detail to make an awe-inspiring job.

One day I might make a wad based around this room. There's plenty of areas I could expand if I really wanted.

Oh, and BTW, this texture pack has got enough variety, but it's a bit hard to work with sometimes because the sets rarely mix very well, and the grid alignments of the lights and other similar textures mean that, for somebody who's only really mapped in the Doom texture set before, you may find yourself reworking areas or ideas to fit the textures to the grid and the room.

If it need any additions, I'd say they'd be doors, computer panels and some good set linking textures (like border textures, or perhaps similar to the FLAT5_4 - FLAT5_6 range). Otherwise great job!

Here's the file (I made extensive use of those Light gradient textures in combination with additive translucency, I think it's a beautiful effect):

Where do you get off saying that? This is gorgeous... Almost on par with some of Torm's own stuff.

Nice job :thumb: more creative that I was, at least ;)

And very nice work, Vader and Phobus. Made me want to brave the 2 MB download.
