Castlevania DoS/AoS Type wad thingy

Post by Cutmanmike »

Pretty simple. I've only done one soul so far though. Kill a few imps and see what happens.

Note: If you haven't played Castlevania Dawn of Sorrow or Aria of Sorrow you won't really get it.

It took a few tries to actually get a soul from any of the imps, but this is pretty impressive stuff.

I'm having a problem with the souls though. They seem to "fall off" ledges to the bottom even though they've got the NOGRAVITY and FLOAT flags. What's going on here?

Okay for any future versions you'll need Gzdoom because i'm using the added A_GiveToTarget from now on.

Ooh... I won't have a chance to try this until I get home from work... But spiffy.

My thoughts on what the souls of the various monsters and such would do, though...

Zombieman: Yeah, just spawn a weak friendly zombie aid you.
Shotgun Zombie: Spawn a more powerful friendly zombie, more mana (of course)
Chaingun Zombie: Spawn an even more powerful zombie.
Imp: Gives ability to throw weak fireballs, minimal mana use
Pinky: Bite attack. Basically, materializes a pinky head to bite anything in melee range for high damage.
Spectre: Invisibilty. Of course.
Lost Soul: Gives ability to throw Lost Souls. Basically, a seeking missile that looks like a Lost Soul.
Cacodemon: Gives ability to fly. Drains mana while in use. Large drain, so you can't just fly away everywhere.
Pain Elemental: Kinda like the Lost Soul... Soul... Except it actually spawns real Lost Souls, not just uses them as projectiles.
Revanant: Punch with the strength of a berserk pack.
Mancubus: Gain defense, lose speed.
Baron of Hell: Throw enhanced fireballs. Kinda like the Imp soull, except with the Baron's fireballs. More mana.
Hell Knight: Enhanced defense. Like the Mancubus, except higher defense, and no speed reduction.
Arachnotron: Speed increase, defense decrease. Pretty much opposite of Mancubus.
Archvile: Ressurect fallen enemies as friends. Takes about half your mana per ressurection.
Spider Mastermind: Super Chaingun attack. Basically (if possible with DECORATE), super high-speed firing chaingun attack in all directions aroud the player. Pretty much anything line-of-sight from you gets massacred.
Cyberdemon: Rocket Barrage. Fires a slew of missiles in a cone in front of you.

Yeah, I think I got everything there... And enough variety... I think...

And maybe do some MRW Monsters as well?
Throwing Comets with an Afrit Soul would be just plain awesome.
