Italian DooM - Episode 1: The Lost Colony

Post by Ismaele »

I am glad to let the wonderful ZDoom community know that the first episode of "Italian DooM", "The Lost Colony", is very near to its completion. First of all "Italian DooM" is a sort of PC (= Partial Converstion) for ZDoom only and it exploits several of its features: ACS Scripts, monsters in DECORATE, other useful lumps, like DECALDEF, MAPINFO, DEHACKED, etc., plus lots of ZDoom effects (cameras, 3D bridges, coloured lights, other lighting effects and so on!). So... what does this new .WAD feature? 7 new level from scratch plus a secret level from scratch; new graphics (new textures, flats, sprites, other pictures, etc.); two new monsters (from the "Monster Resource .WAD"); new messages in Italian and much more...! ;) If you want to know more and look at some screenshots, visit the "Outpost of Doom 2" (http://www.webalice.it/sposito.lag) and go to the "Projects" section!
The .WAD will be published before the end of September! Can't wait for it, eh?! ;)

I don't think you'll get popular with Italian messages (97% of the world's population and 99% of the doom community would be unable to understand it). Try making them English, or at least make an English version.

Of course I put a translation in English below the "Italian messages"! ;)

Well, the shots look promising and I am looking forward to the release (as I said before) and if you even translate the messages, everything will be fine I think :)

After you repair the controls, where the hell do you go to "restart the generator" or whatever? Been looking for close to a half hour.

@ Killionaire: do you refer to the 1st level? If so, you must use the consoles near the switch, that activates the generator, in order to get the "security passwords" and turn on the generator.

@ wario: Uhm... this is strange! :? I tried to download the .ZIP file, just after uploading it and I was successful... moreover it seems that other people can download it, since they are playing it! Sorry, but I don't know what your problem is! :(

Ah, sorry Ismaele, I didn't realize how vague my post had been.

What I meant was on the 3rd level, you first have to turn on the emergency power, and repair controls to something. After you repair the controls it says you can now restore the generator or something. Im not sure where this generator is or how to turn it on.

Downloading problems have been solved! :) Now you can download the .WAD from "Outpost of Doom 2" (http://www.webalice.it/sposito.lag)!

Lycos sucks! :-( This is why I moved my site on an Italian web-space. I tried to exploit my old Lycos web-space as a "dump"... he, he! =D ...but unfortunately they noticed it... :-[ ...so they blocked the downstream, unless you download files from my old web-site, that isn't there any more! :-P However, I put the .ZIP file with the .WAD on my web-space and all links now work correctly. So now you can download it freely without any problem! Anyway, if you still had problems, I'd like you to let me know.

Once you repair that panel, you must go to the room in front of that panel: there a large "SHAWN" block (i.e. the generator) is, come on up and activate the switch... then I can't reveal any more! ;) It's strange to know that you solved the "generator puzzle" of the first level (maybe a little more difficult, because there are few clues!) and you wasn't able to solve this one (easier than the former - in my opinion - because there are more clues!).

Hehe, well finding the first level generator was kind of a fluke for me actually.

Anyway, I assume you're talking about the room through the glass window. I go to the top of that structure thing (pretty sure it's where i turn on the emergency power if i recall correctly). The switch turns on for a second than turns off and i don't see any changes anywhere. I'll keep checking it out for now though.
