most things inspired by kdidz are probably by 100% detail, 0% gameplay. in the first try, that is

Anyone who thinks that a map with lots of detail automatically has bad gameplay is 100% illogical, 0% intelligent.

That is true, but it does take skill to be able to do both things (detail and gameplay) well. Which makes me feel quite secure in the knowledge that KDiZD is being worked on by a variety of the best level makers the ZDoom Community has to offer.

Anyone who thinks a map has bad gameplay without playing it first is illogical in the first place.

Come to think of it, how exactly can gameplay be defined as a percentage anyway? It's an subjective opinion, not a objective statistic.

Therefore you're talking about gameplay, you should be using words like "fantastic", "amazing", "great", "good", "average, "poor", "terrible", "abysmmal", etc, not numbers.

Any elaboration on the
100% detail 0% gameplay
quote is useless. Detail for that matter cannot be measured with percents.

Nevertheless, this quote is about as [censored word] as whoever taught about it and uses it in a serious or sarcastic manner. Period.

Title: Any game
Graphics score: 91% (good, but a few little graphics bugs mess up a little)
Gameplay score: 85% (in some situations, the game can be too hard, even on the easier skill levels, but the game flows well)
Music score: 79% (we're a bit tired of (insert popular game music) right now, but it works)
Sounds score: 64% (whoever was in charge of sound effects should get another job)

Total: 319% (OMG THIS IS UNPOSSIBLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1111 VIOLAITON OF UNIVERSE PHYSIKS!!!!! LOL!111)

This is not how it works, guys.

For me, detail is hard, but gameplay is easy. :( This is why I mostly map for DM.

I never implied it must be 50% of everything to sum it up to 100 :P

And I don't see Your point :|

Nmn: It seems that (unfortunately) a lot of people think that "percentages" in gameplay and detail must be added and have a 100% value for a map to even exist... Which makes 100% gameplay, 50% detail impossible for the [censored word] logic.

...and I never criticized you, if that's what you thought ;)

Surely not, only I dunno why there is percentage as a quality measure for maps :|
Sure it's proper for games which have many categories wether it fits to Your taste or not, but for maps..?

Then again:

(look in reviews)

Hmm.. I guess I just wanted to criticise the [censored word] "Kzdi: 100% detail 0 % gameplay" thing :)

A percentage or mark out of 10, whatever, in the case of reviewing a game can only ever be a way of indicating "goodness" on the personal scale of the reviewer. As NiGHTMARE said, opinions about gameplay in a map are subjective, so all such a figure does is give an impression of how near/far from "perfect" the gameplay (or whatever) is in the reviewer's opinion and according to their tastes. It is still a subjective thing but maybe feels a little more quantitative.

However, saying "I give this map 100% for gameplay" is quite different to saying "this map is 100%" gameplay. The first says the map is about as perfect as I consider a map possible to be as far as gameplay is concerned. The second simply doesn't make sense if you spend any time thinking about it (as Nick pointed out).
