lightning&doublesky
how do these two work? i defined them in mapinfo but they don't do anything.
Doublesky has one sky overlaid on top of another. Transparent bits of one sky show through to the other.
Lightning causes brightening of sectors with sky, or sectors with a certain special applied to them. Granted, the sector must be somewhat dark for the effect to be well seen.
When using two skies and lightning, sky2 will be shown when lightning flashes.

All these were taken in Hexen, since it has both of these effects.
This map has lightning.
Without lightning, it looks like this

When the lightning flashes, this is what it looks like

This map has doublesky. The two layers are set to scroll at different speeds, so you'll need to flip between the images, instead of looking at them side-by-side to really see the effect.
Shot 1

Shot 2, taken a few seconds after

EDIT: After looking at those two doublesky screenshots, it's still really hard to pick out the different layers, since both layers are moving...
If you go to Hexen Map08 and watch the clouds move, you'll see it.

The screenshots aren't mine... I just warped to random levels in Hexen that demonstrated these effectsKingofFlames wrote:cool, thanks Shinjanji.
oh and btw cool screenshots.
Oh yes... also, if you don't have a second sky set up for using lightning, it'll just brighten the current sky... I think... /me goes to test.

Go here
http://members.lycos.co.uk/enjay001/
Scroll not quite half way down the page and look for a section called:
Multiple sky effects in Zdoom
Quake style clouds and lightning
Qsky.zip
redsky.zip
IIRC, all you have to do is load them, go to map01 of Doom2 and look at the sky. Again, IIRC, Qsky is a simple double sky and redsky is a lightning example.
