I've been testing out the Windows version, and I have to be honest, even as a Pre-release, it's an awesome port and I already prefer this version over GZDoom. Just how UZDoom scales the HUD information is worth it alone, and I'm excited to see what the official release will bring to the table.

That being said, I'm not that big of a fan of the UZDoom Icon. This might just be a "me" thing, but I kind of liked how GZDoom's and LZDoom's logo built off of ZDoom's original logo, and in my opinion, UZDoom should do the same.

There we go, just hopp'd in to say congratulations to give a start to this new era for Doom ports. I will tests UZDoom over mods I have worked on for (Blade of Agony, Bloom, r667 Remasters), and when I can let you know issues encountered.

Doom64.CE crashes instantly when "High Quality Resize mode" is enabled in the Display/Texture Options (GTX 4090, whatever driver / settings).
You can still enable High Quality Resize mode in game, but only after a map has already been loaded. Saving workes, too.
However, loading also crashes instantly, i. e. before loading, you must first set "High Quality Resize mode" back to "Off".
This occurs in all newer versions of gzdoom, incl. uzdoom. However, gzdoom-4-11-3.a.-Windows-64bit (2023-Oct-29 19:21) works flawlessly.

Just anticipating the advice to report it on the GitHub page, he's already done it https://github.com/UZDoom/UZDoom/issues/427

Perhaps someone has already asked about this, but will any fixes from 4.15pre be added, such as this one?

Wenas. It's not on the 4.14.3 branch but is that bug present on the pre-release?

Why does UZDoom sound so different in terms of sounds and quality? I compared it to GZDoom and GZDoom sounds much better.
I'm curious, so I'm just asking.

Have you checked that your sound settings are identical?
Have you made sure to install all the correct dll files that come with UZDoom?

GZDoom and UZDoom sound the same for me.

if you "converted" your gzdoom configuration files, all settings should have been preserved
a new from-scratch installation will have different default volume levels

If that's what I'm thinking, then I had a similar problem with both GZDoom and UZDoom. It seems that you need to set Resampling in the sound settings to Linear.

Whatever you did, you didn't try "everything" because it can and does work. ;)
If it was actually broken, a lot more people would be complaining about it.

Before you give up, do you have:
sndfile.dll
soft_oal.dll
zmusic.dll
in your UZDoom install folder? They come in the zip file and should be copied to the same folder as the UZDoom executable.

If it still isn't working, you might also try just deleting your uzdoom.ini file and starting a new config from scratch. If you were planning on ditching the install anyway, you don't have anything to lose by doing this. Find your ini file. It's probably in "documents/my games/uzdoom" but if you can't locate it, type "whereisini" at the console. Navigate to the file and delete it (make a backup if you want) and then run UZDoom.

As far as I know, very little, if anything, has changed with UZDoom's sound handling versus recent copies of GZDoom. Like I said, they both sound the same (i.e. good) to me. So, if GZDoom sounds fine to you, there has to be something odd about your UZDoom setup.

You also haven't really said what is wrong with UZDoom, other than GZDoom sounds "better". Can you describe the problems?

I'm not stupid.. I did everything you wrote here.
I deleted everything and downloaded a brand new UZDoom, which I unpacked into a folder and everything I need is there.
I didn't do anything with the settings, everything is on default.

It seems to me that there is something wrong with the version that is available for download.
