Regarding UZDoom Before Release

Post by PartiallyInvisible »

UPDATE!!!!
I just saw the prerelease post, ignore this.
Hello forum members! I have a question about UZ builds (such as the build I compiled yesterday from the Github repo). Is sharing these builds from before it releases allowed on this forum?
I have not seen any posts about NOT doing this and I just want ask before I post something like a link to download an early build of UZ.
Sorry if this question is stupid :?

Now that the RC is out, there's little need for publicly distributed personal builds (as you have obviously worked out). However, even prior to that, it was possible to get builds directly from the GitHub Actions page anyway. Any time a commit is made that affects the code, GitHub provides a new automatic build after a few minutes.

I don't know if the team would rather people used their official release or the GitHub builds or not. There is at least one potential problem in as much as builds can exist for both the 5.0 work and the 14.4.3 branch. So, if people are reporting bugs, they need to be clear which one they are reporting for. So, unless people want to get into the weeds of that, I suspect the official release candidate is the least confusing one for people to use and to report issues against. It is effectively the official public baseline I suppose.
