Lift action not happening at all!

Post by EarthJumper »

I'm sure i am making some incredibly simple mistake here, i have 6 lifts i need to lower with a switch, but i am NOT getting it to happen even with research! :blergh:
What am i missing here? I have put the spawn in front of the switch mechanism in question and shortened the map for convivence & size sake.

You're correct but it is just one thing. Flip the switch line. In pretty much any map editor linedefs display a small "tick" in the middle, indicating which side is the front/right sidedef. It doesn't always matter but for one-sided the right side must face into the sector, and it also matters for switch linetypes (only the right side is considered for activation) and teleports (you have to cross from right-to-left to trigger them). There's also the stair raising linetypes that only consider sectors on the left sidedef, and the "donut" special that is used in e.g. E1M2 with the chainsaw secret.
