Re: What’s Happening With UZDoom?
I am...tentatively optimistic of this prospect. Like we've been putting up with graf being a huge dick for way, WAY too long, but he was a large driving force that allowed updates to be released so quickly and constantly.
I don't doubt UZDoom but I have concerns for its...uhhh...longevity isn't the right word...having that same kind of constant drive.

Re: What’s Happening With UZDoom?
Graf has been away for a bit due to a lot of real life work so we've been the ones largely spearheading its direction for the past year or so. We can also pull in any changes from GZDoom as needed, but we'd like to set up a more self sustaining model for the future of the project. Ideally it's a process where anyone can get on-boarded and every decade or so you'd get a rotation of maintainers. I can tell you we've already seen an influx of people interested in joining for a fuller maintenance role.
Re: What’s Happening With UZDoom?
Yeah, and frankly speakingl, I don't think I'm going to be sticking around for another 10 years or whatever. I want to make sure this project has constant new blood coming in who will eventually carry the torch in a decade or so.
Re: What’s Happening With UZDoom?
All the best to UZDoom and its developers. Despite being more of a Zandronum guy, I know this shift in leadership (or un-leadership) will ultimately be for the better, helping all of us continue doing what we love.
I’d also like to thank Graf for the absolutely amazing work he’s done over two decades of GZDoom. I hope he continues developing the great projects we’ve all enjoyed for so long. Without you, many of us wouldn’t be where we are today as you’ve given us a place to let our creativity shine.

Why would it be deleted?

IDK I was expecting Graf to come in and start shit, or for any censorship to occur due to what happened. Glad it didnt occur.

Re: What’s Happening With UZDoom?
Why he would? Graf only owns his own port, not the whole ZDooM site (of course not this forum too), also the others won't let him do so even if that happens.
And remember: he approved the "fork" that started everything now, it would very stupid and bad for him if he went shit like that.
Maybe it's me but feel people just get too paranoid sometimes.

Probably going slightly off-topic here, but I cannot wait to see which colors the new fork uses to update the Steam Grid Collection.
Re: What’s Happening With UZDoom?
I was curious to see how the forum here would react, and was partly worried that discussion of the whole AI controversy might be quashed since I could've sworn Graf was a moderator here. Hoping that things go well regardless, I haven't updated GZDoom in a while since haven't glommed onto any new mods nor really tinkered with my own lately, but next time I do I'll have to see how UZDoom is fairing by then.
Re: What’s Happening With UZDoom?
How well will it run compared to GZDoom? PLEASE tell me it'll run faster on my Loki Zero than GZDoom. That's mostly why I typically play Doom mods via Delta Touch on my Retroid Pocket 5.

Do you by any chance own the ZDoom organization or is that being held by GZDoom developers?

Re: What’s Happening With UZDoom?
UZ is literally GZDoom, so it will comparably. There will be changes ofcourse, but it will be in the same ballpark.
To who is this addressed? And what are you referring to, the ZDoom Github organization, the site, or?
