Anyone using AI tools to tidy up mod docs or dev notes?

If it's not ZDoom, it goes here.

Anyone using AI tools to tidy up mod docs or dev notes?

Post by Jona88 »

Alright folks,

Bit of an odd one maybe, but has anyone here dabbled with using AI tools to help tidy up mod documentation or dev notes for GZDoom projects?
I’m working on a small side project, nothing fancy, just tweaking some gameplay stuff and adding a bit of sound design, and while the modding’s fun, I’m absolutely pants at keeping things neat when it comes to readmes, changelogs, that sort of thing.
Not looking to automate the whole thing or make it look corporate or anything, but if there's a way to get a bit of help structuring notes, or even just wording things clearly without rewriting them ten times, I’m all ears.
Curious if anyone’s found a lightweight tool or workflow that doesn’t get in the way of the old-school vibe but still saves a bit of faff.

Cheers!

Once or twice I did let ChatGPT summarize my changes for a release on Ugly As Sin. It actually did a decent job of taking several dozen commit messages and putting them into a condensed bullet list. I did this "manually", now it's built into Github. That's about the most I think it's worth using for; actual documentation needs a human touch, especially given LLMs' propensity to hallucinate convincing details that may or may not be accurate.
