Your friend's work is neat as well! SM64 in doom, i presume? And it's okay. As long as the download link is still available, everyone can enjoy until the project's completed. Just take your time!

His idea is a gameplay mod similar to mine, but it's supposed to be even more of a game changer. From including traditional Mario mechanics and polished effects/spritework to having it's own possible set of enemies and even a texture pack for Doom 1/2.

Interesting. So Third Person is not forced at all? I saw the preview vid with Third Person, actually.

It's not forced at all, It's just Mario has a lot of new third person animations and stuff, I used it to showcase the Starman effects better.

Speaking of Starman... Interesting to just see this mod right now. Was wondering if their was a more unique Mario Doom mod. I should take a look at it some time. :o

Hopefully in your progress you add different two ammunition for each weapon because almost all carry the same, Flowers and orange jars.

Example is... Super Scope: Battery and Double Battery
FLUDD: Water Jar and Water Tank
Fire Flower: Flower and Orange Jar
Red Shell: Shell and Box of Shells
Bullet Cannon: Bullet and Box of Bullets

I was hoping the BFG replacement was gonna be some kind of a mix between the BFG 9000 and the Virtual Boy.

Hey, It's been a while. But I have some pretty exciting news: I'm gonna be working on this mod again.

Just recently I made some new additions including reworking FLUDD (with bits of code borrowed from Emilianomario's "Too Many Mario's" addon for Mega Man 8-bit Deathmatch, Credit will be given and permission was asked and granted beforehand. So it now not only works more like the original game he appeared in, but also reintroduces a proper Hover-Nozzle that stops your movement vertically. I also introduced a Zapper sidearm for mapsets that require buttons that need to be hit with hitscan weapons such as SIGIL and Doom Vacation.

Hope I'm not late to the party, I just saw this mod and immediately figured I should download it and give it a spin. As a certified Mario Freak, I enjoy this mod, although I do still have some things to comment on.

Before an admin locks this thread for the bump: I do intend to continue this at some point but my motivation has been all over the place. And when it comes to maintaining GZDoom mods, a lot of my manpower is going into that one Duke Nukem fangame I've worked on for the past year or so. Not helping matters is me struggling with coding the more ambitious or complex planned features I wanted to have, let alone finding any coders to help me out at all.

I actually implemented Mario's Triple Jump, LongJump and WallJump VIA ACS from an old test script a friend of mine made, but the walljumping is a bit buggy ATM and my friend hasn't had the motivation to polish it up, and says if he does work on it again: He'd likely rewrite all the code again from scratch in ZScript.
