Gonna be honest, Thy Dice Consumed sounds very good for this.
Alternatively: Knee Deep in D20.

I have been keeping an eye on this project ever since it was initially posted here.
I may no longer have a tabletop party, but I still am interested in seeing it finished, so best of luck on it!

Thank you for the support. The game is getting there, and after the game is fully fleshed out I'll be playing a campaign with friends. As was the entire purpose of the project lol. Whatever changes come from that will become version 1.0 :geek: .

Knee Deep in D20 is a name I can get down with but Hell's A Party is still strong. Once again I'll be showing it to my cohorts.

As a community guide, what do you think would be the best place to put the 0.5 release, future announcements of updates to the game, mods/expansion packs, and etc. What place would get the most eyes on it while being within the rules of the theoretical forum section/category/whatever, I'm not a forum native, idk what you call these things lol. Same reason I wouldn't know exactly what's kosher where lol.

Is it allowed to link to a discord server for the project as well? The game is designed to be played in environments like discord. So it's relatively important lol.

This is a bit of a tricky question.
As per rules, this category is for TCs and standalone games on the Doom engine, while this isn't either of them.
However it also states that "this category is also intended for projects that cannot otherwise fit into a category.", which I would think this counts as.
I would say this project fits here, but I might be wrong.
All in all there's no real harm done by putting this into the wrong category, a moderator can always move the thread to the proper place.

I would however recommend keeping updates, announcements and similar within this thread to not clutter up the forums.
I also recommend keeping the first post up to date with things like important links, changelogs and general information.

And regarding discord, I've seen plenty of other projects on the forums link servers, so I am pretty sure it's okay to do so.

Ok. Good to know. I did plan on keeping menial stuff and minor updates here, I think I mentioned that above but then again I might be confusing the doomworld equivalent to this thread for this one. That's where that first alternate name suggestion came from btw. So both sites have a representative name submission now, which is funny.

TBH I looked more at the main thread groupings more on doomworld before now, which is actually where I think the question as to what threads are viable would be more helpful lol. TBH since it's not a GZDoom mod it'd fit in off topic, just as much as it'd fit here, theoretically. But idk. You are probably right.

What might end up happening is this thread being retired, in favor of a release thread with all of the flavorings and information and links and whatnot. The purpose of this thread can be moved to discord which I keep more of an eye on and would be better for quicker responses lol. We'll see I guess, but if you have any particular preferences, I could go in any direction and it wouldn't be too big a deal to me lmao.

I swear I posted a post saying this, but ig it's been sent to the shadow realm, but my co designer and friend is more partial to Knee Deep in D20 than any of the other suggestions that aren't Hell's A Party. Aside from the fact that it lacks subtlety, which I personally think is to it's benefit as to make it clear what the game is, it's good to him. I proposed the idea of making "Hell's A Party" a sort of tagline. Which I think is so strong in that position that it validates Knee Deep in D20 taking it's place as the name of the game lmao.

Fair enough. Maybe keep Thy Dice Consumed for a future expansion pack, if such ever materializes.

Idk what sort of expansion would fit the name but I'll keep it in mind just in case I make a sort of general expansion that adds a handful of monsters and weapons or something lol.

Maybe a compilation pack of content that failed to be finished before the first "full" release.

Tbh there isn't much in that regard besides hideous destructor's Derp and Herp robots, which were already being saved for an expansion, a weapon that's already going to be in the weapon doc as an example of a modded weapon, and uh, well, that's about it lol.

Oh wait, we did have plans for a flamethrower, that got tossed into a "better off saved for an original creation weapon expansion". Added magic casting as a tier 2 perk as somewhat of a replacement.

22nd Post! Woooo!

Anyhow unless something miraculous happens and a better name appears, we're gonna go with "Knee Deep in D20". I just gotta go update the docs with the name lol.

As well as this I've gotten to work on the discord server. Functionally it's just about set up.

Tonight I'll hopefully get even more done on the combat doc as well.

I won't change the name of this thread I don't think.

"Release date" is drawing near. I plan to make a video for the occasion, which will require scripting and editing and whatnot. So I'd still say we're a week off or so. But I'll likely link the server here early once the combat doc is done lol.

That example modded weapon got added to the bottom of the item doc. Go check it out since I can't post it lol.

Combat doc is done. Tbh significantly less work than expected. And with that I think the game is pretty much ready to be played.

On top of that, I'll pass yall the discord link early. We're lacking an icon and other such things but it is pretty much set up.

Gotta make that video for it now, as well as an outro for my videos. Which I already have planned. The scripting and editing for the video specifically for this game though? Hardly. We're still a week or so off from a real release lmao.

A friend of mine named Lightman68 made us a server icon. It's pretty fire.

Finishing my new youtube intro which has a special place to link to the video I'm making for this game. Then I'll be working with me and the boys to script it.
