Quake just had a save quick / load quick default keybinds, which are saves that don't involve the save menu. Supposedly the Nerve'd Doom does the same. The less of that save menu time, the better IMO.

That's really my issue as well. What I imagine is a system where only the 'rotating' feature is present, but setting the number of quicksaves to 1 will always overwrite the same one.
What bothers me most is the confirmation messages, because they make the entire thing anything but 'quick'.

For me, I expect quicksave features in games to behave like emulator save states. I just want you to dump my game to a file, man, don't make me me navigate any more dialog prompts LOL

I hadn't even noticed; but how about rotating, with the number of slots settable to 1 if desired (making it equivalent to regular quicksave for those who want it) and ditching the prompt (which makes it not quick).

Definitely agree with all this. At minimum, if classic were to be kept around based on poll results, making rotating the default functionality would make sense from a usability perspective.

Personally, I wouldn't mind the prompts remaining as optional. All too often (in Doom and other games) I accidentally hit the quicksave button (not that much of an issue with rotating saves) or the quickload button (and that one is an issue, because I can potentially lose several minutes of play).

So, for me, having to quickly stab Y or N after hitting the quicksave/quickload button is not particularly inconvenient but can prevent me accidentally doing something that I hadn't intended.

I'd use cheats then.

Also, I agree with Enjay's reasoning for the font. I don't want to accidentally load/save my game. (but accidentally loading is worse)
