This mod has been started with mporbes set of normal and displacement maps as basis, and my intention is to give the original low resolution pixelated Doom textures PBR surface properties with parallax effect.
Since Doom doesn't have "lighting" only GZDoom's dynamic lights that may appear in lamps or projectiles will show the effect in any given surface. Texture relief (parallax) on the other hand is independent of it, so the effect is always apparent. I hope that If one day RTX or any dynamic/baked lighting technique gives the maps light data for the textures to really show themselves, the PBR map for that will be there.
I work on this in the spare time I can get, my first goal would be to complete all textures found in the shareware episode 1 Knee-Deep in the Dead. You can already check out the current state of the project as it is right now if you want:

PBR is supported natively by GZDoom, but for Parallax you will need a parallax shader, this one is pretty good: viewtopic.php?t=62104
