Trying to find a Synth/Soundfont used in a video

If it's not ZDoom, it goes here.

Trying to find a Synth/Soundfont used in a video

Post by HydroFS02 »

I'm hoping maybe someone who is well versed in this stuff could help me with this here, but recently went back to watch this particular Doom video out of boredom's sake and thought the MIDI output this guy's using sounded really cool.

The soundfont I found the closest would be Airfont 340 (a340.sf2) but thats only because they share the same electric guitar samples AFAIK. The drums in the video sound distinctly Roland, mainly like the later SoundCanvas models like the SC-88Pro but the Slap Bass sample in E1M2 sounds more like a Gravis Ultrasound patch. Which leads me to believe this guy is using a soundfont cobbled together from various sources rather than a full blown MIDI module.

Could just be talking out of my arse, but I really hope someone can help point me in the right direction so i can add this to my MIDI soundfont collection. For the sake of my OCD. :)

If it's mustheory2.sf2 I believe, I did a small comparison between it and the video. It does sound like a nice soundfont but I don't think its the same, Drums and Bowed Glass pad are pretty spot on but most of the other samples sound different. Thanks for the suggestion though as I will keep it anyways.

If anyone else would like to wager a guess, I would be more than thankful still.
