Scavengers Supply & Ammo Hunt

You will have to scavenge to find carriable health and new items to help you along your way, find usable ammo supplies and not left over junk from past visitors. Watchout! even traps have been scattered in maps new and old now (advice:- listen out for the noise & blinking emergency lights) we obviously not the first ones here after all.
So, heal up using health when it's safe to do as they all have their own behavior in the way of efficiency to heal. Banadages and Stims are your friend but you can't hold an endless supply so remember locations if you need later to return to.

I have added a small usage animation (if you can call it that) and sound to the items, you might pull out a random weapon when using a health item as you scavenge through your backpack grabbing any gun as fast as you can as anything could be coming for you. :mrgreen:
The Scavengers Ammo Hunt mod is the same as the main mod but the idea comes Shatter-Thought[V-4] to make a version to be strictly about ammo scarcity.

This is a pretty fun mod and I've used it a little bit, but it's not quite what I would like.

If I may humbly make a request, if you are interested, for a version that leaves out the unique items of the mod and only focuses on the controlling of the static drops on a map, that would be amazing, and I think maybe other people may be interested as well.

Often times I want to push myself to use my ammo more carefully with stronger then usual weapons in mods such as those in many Brutal Doom mods, La Tailor Girl, TreasureTech, or a number of others which prove to end up being far more then enough against vanilla monsters or even a number of monster replacement packs.


While I can enhance the monster side of a playthrough with mods, I still find myself still wanting to cut back on the ammo given to me, and the architecture for this kind of mechanism in Scavenger's Paradise, (that you so graciously cut out for the community as a standalone mod), works very well in how it not just nips bits and pieces through percentage, but even in letting you control how much ,which is wonderful for fine-tuning a playthrough in different map packs.

If this is too much/or not in your interest, I completely understand and will leave this alone, I do not wish to be rude.

I'm not understanding what your trying to say. You want everything else gone but to leave the ammo? All the stuff in the mod is the static stuff on the map as is (other then the dangerous sentry and meds being inventory based) I'm confused? :shock: :?:

On a sidenote, the ammo feature of the mod is not even working as i made a bug, which i never known about till i looked at it now as no one has commented on this :lol:
Also another idea, you can change the health/ammo etc. by using UniversalGameplayTweaker to change to your liking those kinda things and a lot more...

I apologize for not being clearer, I will try better:

First to address the suggestion for universal tweaker, it works to a degree, but it doesn't work comfortably with weapons that use clips when you change the ammo pickup to less then 1.0 in the option menu. This happens with mods that either have clips used in semi-fashion, like Brutal Doom, or realistic clip systems such as in hideous destructor, because the ammo tweaker decreases the ammo in the clip of a starting weapon/weapons at the start of the game, which is not a huge issue, but problematic if a map is designed to be so hard that you actually need the ammo which is lost, plus it decreases the spare ammo-pool strangely enough as well, which in mods like Hideous Destructor just means you have less starting clips. It's really odd.

It also has a big problem with pickups that are singular, such as vanilla doom rockets in example, which just don't add any rockets at all XD, that can be... a little problematic.

But that's what I love about this mechanism from Scavenger's Supply.

So to elaborate on what I meant in the earlier post, I would like the "extra" content from scavenger's paradise removed, (Such as the flame turret, medical items etc), while leaving the item-despawner functionality by itself, leaving the player with a map-item-spawn tweaker that works more reliably to push the player to be careful with their ammo and items.

To boot, the extra options to control the percentile of how much spawns in the map is a great extra bit of function, as it's awesome for fine-tuning a experience with maps of varying design principles.

Hello! So I have tried the ammo hunt one with Vanilla doom, and a couple of mods to see how it played with them, I didn't go too far, just played a few levels in vanilla and Ashes 2063 sterilized, but it seems so far to work just fine with cutting map ammo spawns down.

Thank you very much for updating these, especially for the ammo hunt one, this will go a long ways to getting a playthrough to just where I want it!

You welcome, it does indeed change the feeling of making it count with the ammo spawns. If you got a youtube, i would love to see a playthrough (always looking at youtube doom mods and seeing some interesting stuff)
