Realm667 - The future of the Repository
Dear ZDoomers, friends, collegues,
the Realm667 is running now for over two decades and serving as a platform for resources for mappers with its repositories. A service that has been appreciated for a long time now.
Even though recent events which concern me as a person, I would like to keep the site running in the future. There is no interest for me to shut it down or take it offline. It’s a community resource, and I still want to support creative people out there hosting material or using material from this place.
That said, currently there is no one taking care of the repositories - which means no one checks new submissions, helps with input, fixes issues or moves approved material to the database. For me, I am simply missing the time and knowledge (decorate and zscript) to do it on my own. So what the repository needs is a team of dedicated and skilled people who are interested in maintaining and organizing this area of the page.
This is not for me, neither for my money bag (the donation area for PayPal will be removed), but as an service for the community for which I provide the infrastructure, hosting and page. Beyond that, the page will be restructured to focus even more on the repository and much less on a personal place of Tormentor667 to exactly communicate what this place is all about - resources from the Community for the Community.
The only thing that’s needed though is the right team of people to take care of that. I am also open to suggestions what needs to be done for volunteers to maintain the repository, just let me know.
I really hope we will find a solution here, as it’d be a shame to let that place die just because of some personal decisions from me that could have been done better. The Realm667 is the community, it‘s not just Torm‘s Page

Eh well, since we worked before, perhaps i could help out, and maybe it can be integrated into That Other Site? The Wadazine crew (by Endless) seem an excellent bunch of folks, so..

I’d be honored and happy to have you back on board. I just wonder - what is „that other side“?

DoomWorld. I could imagine someone like Endless and his Wadazine crew being more than pleased to help out.Tormentor667 wrote:I’d be honored and happy to have you back on board. I just wonder - what is „that other side“?

So do you suggest integrating the Realm667 repo into
Doomworld or the Wadazine crew into the Realm667?!

It could have been both. But i should re-iterate what i was suggesting - To save the repository. I imagined the Wadazine crew could be one of those, but it could be anything and anyone.Tormentor667 wrote:So do you suggest integrating the Realm667 repo into

But that's your call though. Its not my baby - I just watched over the crib for a short amount of time.

Well, I want to make sure that the page stays as autark as it is now, and moving it to Doomworld after all what happened is not an option - no false pride but that doesn’t work with my ego

I don't get it!Tormentor667 wrote:Well, I want to make sure that the page stays as autark as it is now, and moving it to Doomworld after all what happened is not an option - no false pride but that doesn’t work with my ego
Are you asking people to do "your job" for you?

Re: Realm667 - The future of the Repository
No Logan, Daniel is saying that integrating Realm667 into Doomworld is not an option due to the drama from a few weeks back. And the original post was asking for people to step up to become maintainers for Realm667 due to BlueShadow and Gothic not being as active and Daniel himself not having enough time to do that.Logan MTM wrote:I don't get it!Tormentor667 wrote:Well, I want to make sure that the page stays as autark as it is now, and moving it to Doomworld after all what happened is not an option - no false pride but that doesn’t work with my ego

Re: Realm667 - The future of the Repository
Exactly. I wasn't able to maintain the repo (submissions) in the past years, not only because of the lack of time but also the lack of knowledge when it comes to DECORATE and ZSCRIPT. This is where I am looking for people who are able to do that. I will continue taking care to keep the site running and bugfree, as well as hosting the whole thing.

Re: Realm667 - The future of the Repository
Well I did mention this in the shoutbox on the forum, but you could make me a maintainer for that, I'm online almost every day and would be able to check the site at least once a day most of the time. And I also know enough (Probably more than enough, seeing as most submissions are pretty simple code-wise.) about DECORATE and ZScript to be able to check inside the submissions as well.
Also I'm talking about it here too because when I mentioned this on R667, you sent me a message on the shoutbox with the address you want me to message to further talk about it, but the anti spam filter scrubbed the email address from the message.

Re: Realm667 - The future of the Repository
Help!!!
I can't register in Realm667, when I click "Register" it appears another page that says "403: Access Forbidden" and "This form has not been submitted because your IP is listed in a spam database. If you feel this is an error, please contact the webmaster"
I tried to register at my phone but it appears the same thing...
Please somebody tell me what I can do!

Maybe read the error message correctly? I don't know how come Realm667 considers your IP as a spam, i'd imminently contact the admin like Tormentor667 by DMing him or just reply him right here in this Thread if i were you.
