I’m afraid I have some bad news.
Just a few minutes ago, MrPyspy confirmed that Slax (AKA Slaxbox or SlaxBlox) had recently passed away. Currently details are scant but I just wanted to pass this along as soon as I could:

Slax was an essential pillar to the ZDoom community in regards to his unique artwork. Without it, mods like DoomRL Arsenal wouldn’t have quite been the same.
I will be updating this post when I get info on anything else.

Slax was one of the earliest names I remember reading back in my early ZDoom Forums days. I don't remember ever speaking to him but still breaks my heart nonetheless. May his soul rest in peace, and his family and friends find comfort in this hard time.

I mean, i never had direct contact with him, but i used to love his spriteworks, his talent and fine taste for guns... jeez, what an awful year.

This is very shocking and i don't even know what to say. But what i know is that he contributed a lot of stuff for the Doom Community with a big smile, strong positivity and endless creativity. He also had a lot of drawing talent and wouldn't hesitate to draw something special for everyone and i wish it could've last a little bit longer, to know each other even more... Things are tough especially this year and i can't stop blaming myself that i haven't contacted him if i could... Speaking of contribution, he also helped a lot for our still-continued project called: The Adventures of Square. His unique style and the creativity made it a lot lively, in my opinion and was the first person who finalized the face of Square, the game's protagonist. Tho they told me to redesign his face once more, but i honestly like his design better. And it's gutwrenching that we won't gonna see him making more people, and himself happy. His legacy will be remembered, and maybe he's now gone for a long time, we will remember him. Always.
Rest in Peace, Slax. Thank you for your big amount of contribution, and always being there for me back then. I enjoyed the good time with you and i will never forget that. Thank you for your Service.
