One day I and another person decided to make System Shock 2 inspired map, and this, as you can see, has gone too far.
As I wrote, this mod is inspired by the System Shock 2 game. So we tried to make this mod atmospheric.
This is also our first major project at ZDoom.

The action takes place in the distant future during the "technological singularity". Artificial intelligence and man side by side carried out various studies, as a result of which they mastered the technology of "transferring" the consciousness of a living organism to other possible carriers. Many corporations and societies saw this discovery as the key to immortality and began to try to recreate the ideal conditions for transfer. The solution was to create highly sophisticated neural networks, similar in emotional spectrum to humans. However, with the creation of the network, AI was also "born" in it, which was subsequently displaced by human consciousness.
The synthetes were outraged by this behavior, but in their opinion, the outbreak of war could entail much worse consequences. As a result, it was decided to flee from areas controlled by people and to find refuge in space.
40 years have passed. During this time, people have staged a hunt for "jackals" - that’s how they called the runaway AI. In addition to its potential danger, it also represented a valuable resource in the form of neural networks for transfer. However, during this time the Jackals went into the shadows - for two years not a single platform have been seen.
At the same time, the "Jackals" discovered a defect in themselves. After a while, their software begins to require human DNA. By neglecting this protocol, synthetics' neural connections would self-destruct making them zombie-like. A similar phenomenon has been nicknamed "a scream" (with prolonged neglect, the robot begins to make sounds like a scream). In an attempt to get rid of the "disease" the Synthets came to the conclusion that the answer must be sought from the parents themselves.
And it was found ...
Intercepting a small research vessel and conducting experiments, synthetes discovered that human blood, even in small quantities, makes the disease recede for a very long period of time, but expansion could lead to a real massacre, the outcome of which could not even be calculated. The jackals set themselves two goals - to provide the current generation with blood and to recreate the next - clean, not affected by "scream".
And the answer was found again - the “Searchlight” cargo barge.
As it became known, it hauls a completely new form of carriers of consciousness, developed in one of the human colonies. The barge also has a huge crew, which will give the current generation enough time to develop a new one. In a matter of minutes, an invasion plan was drawn up.
"Inforce" is a kind of AI. One of the hardest to create. They do not have any specific body and are able to recreate and find favorable conditions for themselves even in the refrigerator, as well as to subjugate any software. They were asked to storm the ship.
The main character is not just a cyborg, but one of the people who transferred his consciousness to a neural network. He works as a mercenary soldier and received an order to find out the state of the "Searchlight". However, getting on the ship, he is influenced by Inforce and becomes vulnerable to “scream”. And the artificial intelligence hints that he is far from alone in his head ...

The <UNKNOW SOLDIER ID> is a former state military man who agreed to an experiment to transfer consciousness into the neural network. One could say that he
was one of the first to be exposed. His consciousness was moved to a humane platform modified for military purposes. It makes it possible
to keep part of the weapon in a disassembled form. Repair, modification and effective replacement of armoured plates. Included in the head area is a visor for backlighting
opponents and their parameters. However, the kind of robot was humanoid, but still very far from human. It may have been an attempt
to avoid the "uncanny valley" effect.
After a while, the <UNKNOW SOLDIER ID> resigned, deciding to replace the life of an escaped warrior with a mercenary career.
