Hey there everybody!
So, to cut right to the chase, the latest version of GZDoom has this weird thing going on for my PC which makes the melting screen go at a snail’s pace whenever I start a new game/finish the level/load the next level. However, while that takes absolutely forever to finish, once it’s done, the game runs so smoothly w/ no lag, no errors and crashes whatsoever. This could be just a me problem since I run Doom w/ whatever source port on my Intel Laptop I got in 2017 during my sophomore year in high school (Why are you running Doom on such a shit laptop? Well that’s because I’m a college student who needs to save up money, and even though I have enough money to buy myself an actual good PC, I’m saving up to pay off the community college I go to and not wasting so much money, plus, this laptop has the benefit of me bringing it anywhere I want to do schoolwork.) This Laptop can definitely handle Doom, I’ve run it both with an older version of GZDoom with Trailblazer on the Sunlust megawad, and with PrBoom+ when I wanted to play Jenesis and had no indications of lag or crashes. But now, when I run it with the latest version it does that, can anybody explain what is going on?

If you want help you're going to have to provide lots of info. Like what is your hardware, what is your operating system, what version of GZDoom/LZDoom/whatever you're using, what mods you're loading, how you're loading it, what you've already tried for fixing the problem, and anything else that is even remotely relevant to the problem.
We can't magically figure out what it is if you're going to be vague, and if we feel like you're just wasting our time with guessing games we will act like that's what you're really doing and won't help you.

Re: Latest Version of GZDoom is being weird with the melt sc
What are the hardware specs of your laptop, and which renderer are you using?
Re: Latest Version of GZDoom is being weird with the melt sc
The Hardware Specs are an Intel Celeron CPU w/ 2.16 GHz and 4 GB of RAM. It won't be able to run Sekiro or any other modern game at all, but man let me tell you, it can run DOOM on OpenGL on hardware renderer w/ barely any lag at all when it came to older versions. But I do wonder, what happened with the new version of GZDoom? Is it really just a me problem? Does this mean no more mods for DOOM for me since mod creators will eventually release updates for their mods that requires the newest version of GZDoom and I won't be able to play them?wildweasel wrote:What are the hardware specs of your laptop, and which renderer are you using?

Must be a driver problem, either update your driver or disable the melting effect.

Actually, that was all that was needed! Just a quick driver update and it’s been running smooth af, thanks fellas
