[WIP] Descent-esque Game

Post by Stopsignal »

Greetings! We are a group of friends that are making a really small TC/game for GzDoom.

Using the 6 Degrees Of Freedom script that Dodopod made, we are making this project just to see how good of a thing we can do if we work together. So it's mostly a family project, in a way, hahahahha

You'll play as a Fly-like ship, against the forces of the SWAT (play on words for fly swatter, we are lame). As we want this to be really small, you'll only have two weapons for now, and the objective is just to get to the end of the level.

Spoiler: Some gameplay previews!
Spoiler: enemies
We are writing this topic early, just as a way to start feeling the waters about showing the project, and also to force us to finish it!
It's being an interesting challenge. We really didn't know anything about using models in Gzdoom, and personally i got a lot of practice on blender. So it's working well so far!

Our goal is to be able to publish it on itch io, as a free game, just to see if someone likes it.
We'll start posting updates as we go. For now, no playable wad: We want to iron out a few kinks before that. Coming soon!
Spoiler: Group composed by:
TO-DO (more or less)

-Textures
-Start mapping
-Some enemies
.Tank
.Fix turrets
.Boss
-Pickups and powerups
-Graphics for everything else, and placeholder graphics we need to replace

Looks like you got the basic gameplay right :)
Do you plan on keeping the textureless style for the model? I kinda like that low-fi aesthetics.

Thanks for the comments, y'all! And yes, we do plan on keeping the "textureless" style, hahahah, i think it adds to the charm! I personally want more complex textures for walls and sprites though, but we'll see! For now we are a bit busy, but we'll continue soon!

I love how the "ship" just flops to the ground upon dying in one of the GIFs. It's oddly hilarious. :P

Anyway, looking good! Should probably go and finish Descent while I wait for this...
