They're Green and they're pissed off!



This is a very simple mod I've made with around 5 hours of work because I woke up in a particular mood to brutally murder waves, upon waves of imps. Let's call it "speed modding".

Basically, these mutant imps will spawn endlessly on any map. They are all mostly the same, but they will all drop ammo to keep you well stocked, and ready to slaughter by the thousands.

Its an interesting idea, and i would try it out, but you seem to have forgotten to set the file to public.

definitely looks fun and challenging though.

Woops! Fixed the link, so now it should be public. Also added a last minute thign where mutants will drop a bit of health, in case you run out of medikits :p

So, I supposed this is a survival mod that asks if you want to survive for long? This can also double up as a Nightmare alternative without the faster projectiles and turret AI? Neat!

Which map you used on the video? I keep coming across it on gameplay videos.

Quick update with mild rebalancing:
-Fire balls are slightly slower
-Enemies drop health more often
-Fixed problem with loot not spawning in goreless mode

loving it so far.

i haven't opened the file yet, so i don't know which method you used to make enemies respawn. But do you accept an Hexen and Heretic patch? BTW, is there a way to control the time they take to respawn? Maybe via a CVAR? A gore janitor CVAR to remove corpses would be cool too.

Small maps like MAP02 can quickly become nightmares even with some OP mods. :)

I can definitely look into adding Hexen/Heretic compatibility, and some more CVARs for better customization, maybe even custom difficulties.
For a thing I threw together in a few hours I'm getting a big kick out of this, so expect some more updates lol

Quite a simple yet nice way to start the survival mode in vanilla doom. I guess some mutants would get buffed and stronger if you take too long and whatnot?

This is good... definitely scratches that Killing Floor itch. Also helped me realize the SSG in my personal weapon mod was seriously underpowered.

The Freedoom serpentipede sounds work perfectly for this.

Do the bodies get removed after a while? It starts getting a bit much on longer maps.

Just gave this a try, and it wasn't quite what I was expecting. I was expecting a kind of wave mode where you get a wave of enemies and if you survive then another wave starts, and so on, until you die. As such, I tried loading it with some multiplayer maps but nothing spawned (I guess because there are no monster spawns on those maps). So I then tried it with Doom 2 and have played the first four levels. Basically, it's like an alternative nightmare mode where all of the monster spawns start off in an aggressed state and more keep spawning in. Very fast paced gameplay and quite fun. I look forward to what else you might add in to this mod. If there were some recommended maps/campaigns for this, that would be awesome.

Allowing spawns to start coming in in monster-free maps would definitely be a nice feature.

Timed co-op survival/killcompetition in DM mapsets would be perfect for this mod.

I would prefer if there were a bigger variety in the imps, like an imp that drops weapons and has a hitscan attack, or a fast melee-based imp (even if it ends up just being a pinky clone.)

Way to miss the point, lol.

That said, this does remind me: Any hope of making the fly guys call A_Chase more often at a reduced speed? They're really unreasonably hard to hit even with hitscans.
