I just got the latest version of this. And when I enter E1M1 no demons spawn. I tested E1M2 and also started the other episodes and they work. But E1M1 loads up empty. What could it be? I know there is an option to have no demons spawn but that is set to OFF.

If you want help you're going to have to provide lots of info. Like what is your hardware, what is your operating system, what version of GZDoom/LZDoom/whatever you're using, what mods you're loading, how you're loading it, what you've already tried for fixing the problem, and anything else that is even remotely relevant to the problem.
We can't magically figure out what it is if you're going to be vague, and if we feel like you're just wasting our time with guessing games we will act like that's what you're really doing and won't help you.

Are you loading any files? Any autoloads or files in the skins folder? Are you using a launcher or running the program directly? What difficulty are you on? A bit hard to tell with such little information.

I just loaded it up with the shortcut. Not running any mods or anything custom. Just the Doom.wad.

If no mods are being loaded and E1M2 has monsters on it, the only thing I can think of is an IWAD that had been damaged/edited so that E1M1 has had the monsters removed.
