BURL what?
BURL TUMD is a classic mod made by Eric, the gist of it is that is a parody of BD that goes above and beyond mere parody and actually makes some interesting gameplay tweaks, monsters are faster and hit harder, and to compensate your running speed is altered and your weapons pack more of a punch.
Sounds pretty mundane on paper, until you hear what it might be the snappiest shotgun in all of Doom modding:

Oh god what did you do:
I love the original mod, the thing is that there are 2 particular features that always bugged me, so I set out to open the .pk3 in SLADE and by barely altering some lines of code all my problems were solved.
:arrow: 1-Archviles no longer do chip damage with their flames as the final blast builds up.
:arrow: 2-Cacodemon projectiles no longer blind you upon hit, (damage values are restored back to vanilla levels, this means they actually hurt more now to compensate)
That's it.

GET THE FIXED VERSION HERE

I asked Eric for permission to post this edit as well as the original mod (since the old thread is pretty dead and all the links are dead as well), he also graciously pointed me on how to restore the caco damage back to vanilla, so any actual credit for anything still goes to the original author of the mod.
I have virtually NO knowledge of SLADE or coding in general, just in case you were wondering if I was going to add anything.

Thanks Futz Handango, if it wasn't for you I probably would've never discovered this mod, great job with this. By the way, what's with the name of the mod? Lol

I'm always happy to let others know about this little gem, keep in mind all I did was alter 3-4 lines of code at most, all the work was done by Eric.

As for the name, Brutal Doom=BURL TUMD, it goes with the general theme of the mod being a really derpified parody of BD, like how the Nightmare difficulty option has been renamed to "BETR THAN RBUTL DUM"

My coding skills can be summed up as: "let's remove this thing and hope the mod still works afterwards" but I guess we could give that a try.

I've got addicted to this. I litterally cannot play any other gameplay mod after this. This is not a joke based on the fact this is a BD parody mod. I actually love this THAT much.
