Re: The Still New What Did You Last Do Thread
One of my cats I think is sick, so I had to schedule a vet appointment.
I hope my stimulus check comes in so I can get her fixed up and not worry about the cost.
I've been working hard on my project aside that.

Re: The Still New What Did You Last Do Thread
I did a really high quality render of the Doom eternal Guy. It is a Path-traced ( Ray traced ) render with PBR textures ( Doom eternal uses Specular/Glossiness workflow ). It is done in Blender. Rendered on E-cycles. The image is 4K ( 3840*2160 ) and was rendered with a lot of samples ( 2048 ) so it is the highest quality render my laptop can produce. I was impressed with how the textures held up, even in a ray traced engine. the hands and the face have no textures because those have SSS ( Sub-surface scattering ) which would add a lot of render time and i decided to not render them and gave them a place holder material. I tried to render them without SSS and it looked weird and unnatural. The scene was lit using a HDRI from HDRIhaven called "industrial pipe and valve 01". Blender doesn't natively support specular/gloss workflow ( Blender's real time engine "Eeevee" has specular support but the ray-traced engine doesn't ) , so i had to make my own PBR shader which was a very fun experience. The shader is based of Pixar's/Disney's Principled BSDF shader, just using Specular/Gloss instead of Metalness/Roughness.
Here is the image. The Devil is in the details. Zoom in and see the individual scratches and imperfections that make up the slayers armor. The metals are a really nice accent to the design overall. Slayer looks more beefy compared to Doom 2016. Previous material elements are here like Green plastic and leather near the shoulders , the helmet and the Visor, and they are changed up to fit eternals artstyle. New elements were added like Yellow plates/ Dark plates, Glowing elements , some decals here and there and a lot more wear and imperfection. The model is more Asymmetrical than Doom 2016 which is a good thing. looks more badass and less techy which fits the art direction. There are some more nuances. Check it out by yourself!
Edit: Come and think of it , I think this the the Highest Quality Non-official Doom Eternal Guy Render of all time . AND there is more to come ( turntable animations , Renders with Proper Lighitng and Poses , can't wait ).

Oh man, nice job! I thought doomguy's armor was genuinely real.
And FINALLY made this animation, despite of Davinci having unexpected diarrhea.

Re: The Still New What Did You Last Do Thread
This took like, a billion attempts to pull off.
Spoiler: I DID IT!
Re: The Still New What Did You Last Do Thread
Damn, good job! I gave it one attempt, got owned, and figured "I guess I can just never do that one."
Re: The Still New What Did You Last Do Thread
Believe it or not, that was me once upon a time. My first few attempts, I even died in the first arena fight (yes, the one with the imps and zombie men). It's all about commitment, baby.

I finally got SLADE running by installing the Windows XP version. The other versions would mysteriously crash.

Got Sound Canvas VA working with GZDoom and it's great. Hardware is cool but this was a lot cheaper than buying a real SC-55/88!

Not really a WIP since it's done and it's merely just art but you know that #SailorMoonRedraw thing everybody's doing?
This was my take on it. This only happened in around 4 hours~ a couple nights back.

I'm gonna leave this bandwagon alone. Y'all are doing some nice work with it, though.
