Just tested this, worked fine with today's version of the mod. Was there maybe an error in your mod that caused the wrong image to be picked?

Sorry for the bump but I found out what the problem was. No doubt in future, when WidePix is completely released, people will run into this problem.
The problem was that I had the Doom Sprite Fix Project loaded after WidePix. That project will revert the graphics back to the non-widescreen version.
