Re: [SPRITES] Spriting Carnival!!
My my... Female version of the enemies for Wolfenstein 3D, you say? Romanstein comes to mind. And one of the scrapped ideas of Rise of the Triad where they wanted to implement the exact same concept!
Re: [SPRITES] Spriting Carnival!!
Wanted to add some female options to mods.

Yeah, picked the hair from old photos from the era.

ThanksEnjay wrote:They look great. I particularly like the SS one because the hair looks suitably 1940s in style and would probably be more in keeping with a military way to wear your hair.

One old mod of my own creation should come to mind as well....My my... Female version of the enemies for Wolfenstein 3D, you say? Romanstein comes to mind. And one of the scrapped ideas of Rise of the Triad where they wanted to implement the exact same concept!

Re: [SPRITES] Spriting Carnival!!
My graphic editing skills are not very good by any means, I'm much better at mapping or even scripting. Nonetheless I needed a few Nazi variations to serve as Neo Nazi's in one of my projects and because I've never played or owned any Wolf game and I didn't want to take anything from BoA, I had to settle for the only Nazi sprites I had available, the SS sprites included in DooM 2. So I decided to take a crack at recoloring the sprites in Gimp and here is the results.
I have a full set for both sprites if anyone wants to see them for some reason. As crap as I am at graphical stuff, it took way to long for me just to make these two recolor sets so I probably wont make any more.
The red one will be used as a Neo Nazi sergeant and the grey one will be a captain. I'm actually rather satisfied with the grey one, as it looks like a proper uniform, the red one I'm unsure of. I guess the red one does fit in with the blue style of the regular SS. I tried to make a black one, but I kept losing details and ultimately couldn't get a satisfactorily result.I have a full set for both sprites if anyone wants to see them for some reason. Re: [SPRITES] Spriting Carnival!!
Please do upload them. The grey certainly does look like Luftwaffe and you could call the red one ein Blutschutz (Bloodguard). On my old HD, which crashed, I had 6 or 7 different-colored SS, which I'd found or re-colored myself, including green, yellow and orange. I had an idea a few years ago for a Christmas SS map and thought they would be appropriate.22alpha22 wrote:My graphic editing skills are not very good by any means, I'm much better at mapping or even scripting. I found this a few months ago, but there was no text file, so I don't know who made it. And yeah, detail is not great, but it is black.

If you do make more re-colors, there were two I never found and tried to make, but couldn't get to look good: white (usable for arctic maps) and that late WWII green-faded-to-brown khaki (useful for Afrika Korps/Desert Rats maps).

Re: [SPRITES] Spriting Carnival!!
Alright here they are. I've never created a sprite sheet before so I'm sure I did it wrong but here they are nevertheless. I've included a zip with the sprites as individual pngs for convenience, however, they aren't optimized so they should probably be run through a png optimizer.EffinghamHuffnagel wrote:Please do upload them.
I've edited the sprites myself to add rotations to the firing frames and added an additional aiming frame, the edits aren't great by any means but it at least allows the Nazi to infight without looking strange. I haven't included any duplicate frames, so you'll either need to make new frames yourself, copy and rename existing frames, or make a TEXTURES entry like this:
Code: Select all
Sprite NAZIE2, 26, 55
{
Offset 14, 55
Graphic NAZIA2, 0, 0
}
Sprite NAZIE3, 38, 55
{
Offset 17, 55
Graphic NAZIA3, 0, 0
}
Sprite NAZIE4, 33, 55
{
Offset 18, 55
Graphic NAZIA4, 0, 0
}
Sprite NAZIE5, 30, 55
{
Offset 15, 55
Graphic NAZIA5, 0, 0
}
Sprite NAZIE6, 35, 56
{
Offset 16, 56
Graphic NAZIA6, 0, 0
}
Sprite NAZIE7, 38, 55
{
Offset 19, 55
Graphic NAZIA7, 0, 0
}
Sprite NAZIE8, 26, 56
{
Offset 10, 56
Graphic NAZIA8, 0, 0
}
Sprite NAZIF5, 30, 55
{
Offset 15, 55
Graphic NAZIA5, 0, 0
}
Sprite NAZIG5, 30, 55
{
Offset 15, 55
Graphic NAZIA5, 0, 0
}

Re: [SPRITES] Spriting Carnival!!
Don't want to rain on your parade as the sprite is pretty nice but this has been done not all that long ago with very similar results... Can't remember by whom but it's used in this:
https://www.moddb.com/mods/brutal-doom- ... ha-unmaker
Yours is Great work, don't get me wrong but thought I'd mention nonetheless...

yeah i know but the brutal doom 64 version looks out of place. it looks like a 2d sprite but not a 3d one and its heavily shaded. i tried remake it using a 3d model.

Re: [SPRITES] Spriting Carnival!!
Thanks.
Those are obviously generally inspired by Mr. Wolf soldiers (used in some Wolf3D mods), but were done independently over pure Wolf3D mutant base.
No Mr. Wolf art was used/involved.

Re: [SPRITES] Spriting Carnival!!
Hello! I'm Fran.
This is my first time officially posting here (and i can't promise i'll be around much) since i've never had an account here, despite lurking around now and then.
I'm sure a few folks here know me already, but still, i want to say hi!
I love art and i draw lots, which is something i've been doing all my life, but in recent years i've been polishing my spriting skills too.
Those who know me, i've made sprites for Death Foretold and Quake Champions: Doom Edition, mostly weapons and pickups, and some UI elements if needed.
I won't post those here because they are out there already, so i've thought a good way to introduce myself would be with fresh new sprites.
My only request is, please don't ask for permission to use them, even with credit, and i don't have sprite commissions open, so i probably won't do that because of how long those take to make for what i've been offered as payment.
I'd appreciate any feedback you can give me, and help me make better sprites in the future, because it's quite fun!
So here they are, something quite requested online, Doom Eternal weapons!
Hope you like my work! I'd link my social media, but i might do that in a different post instead.
Have a great day!

Re: [SPRITES] Spriting Carnival!!
Welcome to the forums! Nice sprites so far, I liked your work in D4T and QCDE. Hope to see a full set of DE sprites after DE releases.
