I was surprised to see GZdoom show Castlevania: Simon's Destiny in my IWAD selector even though it wasn't in my IWAD folder.
Are there other TCs like this that GZDoom natively recognizes as an IWAD?
Which TCs does GZDoom recognize natively?

This is the list of natively-supported games: https://zdoom.org/wiki/IWAD
Games can also define themselves as IWADs, which lets GZDoom recognize them without built-in support: https://zdoom.org/wiki/Custom_IWAD

I don't think a question like this really belongs in this topic. This topic is for specific projects that are being developed or completed, not general questions about said projects.
Re: Which TCs does GZDoom recognize natively?
Yeah, but it answers the question anyway. If you have a TC that has an ".iwad" or ".ipk3" extension (instead of the usual (".wad" or ".pk3") and it's in a path that GZDoom knows about, and it's set up correctly as explained on the wiki, then it'll be detected.
A good example would be Hedon. It's even a commercial game now!

Honestly we should have a thread detailing all the standalone works that use the Doom engine. I know many threads exist for this, but not a definitive compendium. Quite a few use ZDoom as a base aswell.
Perhaps ill make such a thread in due time. Could also be worthwhile for the wiki as examples of standalone GZDoom games.

I'm aware of that wiki page, but I was surprised that GZDoom detected Castlevania automatically even though it isn't listed in the wiki. I'm curious if there are others like it.Caligari87 wrote:This is the list of natively-supported games: https://zdoom.org/wiki/IWAD

There are a lot of Doom engine powered titles that are standalone, but some of those aren't based around GZDoom, but rather other engines. If you would want such a standalone list, ill throw it up.enderandrew wrote:I'm aware of that wiki page, but I was surprised that GZDoom detected Castlevania automatically even though it isn't listed in the wiki. Blade of Agony is stand-alone, using the IWADINFO feature.
There's The Forestale, which is another indie game built with GZDoom. And there's Memoirs of Magic. I don't know if either use the custom IWAD feature since their development predates the feature, though.

Daytime Drama 1 has always been standalone. It uses a built in IWADINFO and uses a PK3 container with the ipk3 extension. This is a common way of getting standalone content to work, it was introduced a few years back.
Seems like more and more projects are using it.
