This map acts as an alternative to the original Icon of Sin level from DOOM 2. Uses the original as an introduction, but wastes no time in jumping into a new battle arena. There is a trick to beating this level quickly, if you can find it, of course. Tested in GZDoom using hardware and software rendering.
This is set to DOOM 2's MAP30.

Re: Icon of Ruin (MAP30 replacement)
Thumbnail instantly reminded me of Doom64's The Absolution. Are these pillars again used to shut monster closets down early?
Gonna try this out

Good gameplay video! As long as the levels were enjoyable to play, then I've set out what I've wanted to do.
Fun Fact: Par Time for Icon of Ruin is 40 seconds.

Re: Icon of Ruin (MAP30 replacement)
I decided to speedrun this. Ended up with 4 demos. (All made for GZDoom 4.2.4)
In the first one, I rocket jump off the elevator and trigger all switches, and finish in 33 seconds or so.
In the second one, I abuse Doom's switch quirks to trigger the blocked switch without lowering the barriers. The third and fourth are attempts at making my time better going as fast as I could, and without committing mistakes that cost me precious time.
Times: (Should be correct)

Gotta one-up you! 24 seconds run (not a demo though, cause I can't be bothered).phantombeta wrote:I decided to speedrun this.

Got a 23. I'm fairly certain this is as fast as it can possibly be done.
